iPhone 3.1 Beta Reveals New Features

iphone31

Apple is slugging along with their newest developer release of iPhone 3.1. Seems like Steve Jobs is running a much tighter ship than maestro Cook. Many of the major issues of 3.0 (which probably wouldn’t of been there in the first place if it were up to El Jobso) have been fixed. Here is a list of  improvements dredged up by developers.

  • Non-destructive video editing means trimming a clip no longer saves over the original video but gives you the option to “Save as copy…”
  • Options for MMS are back on AT&T, but not sending or receiving.
  • Voice Control now works over Bluetooth
  • iPhone vibrates when moving icons
  • Updated AT&T profile to 4.2
  • Updated modem firmware to 5.08.01
  • Improvements to OpenGL and Quartz.
  • APIs to allow third party apps to access videos and edit them.
  • More is sure to come soon. So stay tuned. On that note, what else do you think needs fixing?

Lucky for you iPhone enthusiasts, Buy.com is now offering a 16GB iPhone 3G that is completely backed by Apple and isn’t locked to a specific carrier. How did Buy.com get this deal to happen? Recession? What recession?

This 24-karat gold iPhone 3G has made its way onto the auction site eBay in hopes that it’ll draw a high bid. While I don’t doubt it will, whoever ends up winning must not be affected by the current economic crisis. You can buy it now for a mere $1016.72, which is pennies for people like Bill Gates and Bernie Madoff. There’s even a gold Apple logo on the back of the device for good measure.

The Final Verdict: Walmart iPhone 3G

We’ve been covering the constant rumor mill known as the Walmart iPhone 3G. At one point, people were speculating that Walmart would offer a 4GB iPhone 3G at $99. Ha! Those rumors came and went and are now nothing but a memory. Walmart has released an advertisement that shows the 8GB iPhone 3G at $197. That’s a whopping $2 in savings, folks. Stunning.

    Awesome Bukkake iPhone Case

Graffiti design company Krink has followed up their paint drip Incase laptop sleeve with a similarly-designed case for the iPhone 3G. Incase sold Krink’s laptop sleeve online, but for now this phone case is just a one-of-a-kind prototype.

This case is pretty cool, even though it does set you up to be the punchline of some very dirty jokes. Hypebeast is hoping that the kids over at Krink will have a “change of heart” and release these bad boys to the public.

Colorware At It Again, Modding iPhone 3G

The company that could turn your iPod or laptop any color is back and offering the iPhone 3G in exciting new colors. No longer are you limited to a black or white iPhone 3G purchase. Now you can plunk down $150 extra and get a wacky neon green paint job. It’s similar to T-Mobile’s skinning service except not affordable in the slightest.

You can get combine colors if you want to mix it up and represent your favorite sports team if that tickles your fancy. Unfortunately, the price is just too high for us to recommend it. Each additional option will cost you more and more. You might be better off trying to DIY this one.

    Fake Beer For Your iPhone

High tech gadgets and beer are both great, so you’d think that bringing the two together would be a smashing success right? Not true. Apparently, software developers don’t realize that the best part of drinking is actually getting drunk and you can’t get smashed just by looking at pictures of beer. First, there was the horrendous “Beer Pong” game for the Nintendo Wii. We all saw how well that went. Now, there’s iBeer, which brings all the non-fun of looking at an alcoholic beverage without actually drinking it to the iPhone 3G.

iBeer gives users to have a beer screensaver on their phones. It makes burping and fizzing noises and simulates being poured. With iBeer, you can tilt your iPhone and make it look like you’re actually drinking a beer. iBeer claims to offer users the opportunity to “brew and drink beer on your iPhone and iPod Touch.” Lame. This fake phone beer costs $2.99 at the iTunes store and, so far, the reviews for iBeer have been merciless.
