Short Review: iMainGo 2 Portable Speaker System Adds iPhone Compatibility

imain-unbox

Back in 2007 we had the opportunity to review the iMainGo Portable iPod Speaker System, which at the time, sent ripples of excitement though the MacWorld crowd. No more did we have to lug around a clunky pair of speakers just so we could hear some tunes somewhere other than inside our own homes.

iMainGo was nice enough to ship us their new iMainGo 2 which now offers compatibility with the iPhone, iPod Touch and Zune devices. The design remains similar to the original. albiet a little room added to compensate for the iPhone’s size, as does the overall great sound quality for such a compact device (I’m authentically blown away by the powerful sound supplied from such a compact device, literally transportable by hand) and no worries, it still offers the massive 30 hours of battery life.

At Macworld, the iMainGo booth had a steady flow of people in awe at what they were witnessing, portable iPod speakers that pumped out major dosages of great sound. By saying portable, the implication is not that these can be crammed into your backpack. The iMainGo unit can be held in your hand just fine. With simple access to your iPod’s controls through the device, its high output stereo speakers, and its 30 hour battery life. The iMainGo is one iPod accessory that separates itself from the competition through natural design and high quality well worth the $69.95 price tag.

“Small system. HUGE SOUND!” Says the box of the new iMainGo portable media player that has been released at Macworld 2007. It will connect to any MP3 player as it uses the headphone jack as well as the proprietary iPod 30pin connector. It has garnered much attention at Macworld, and the Portable Sound Labs booth has had a great amount of attention all day. Look for a Gearfuse review of the iMainGo in the days to come! — Nik Gomez
