Smiling Ice Cream Robot Promises Sweets to All Children
Japan’s newest media darling, unlike similar stars in the U.S., is famous for all the right reason. He puts a smile on the face of Japanese children and he makes ice cream. No meltdowns (at least none that aren’t caused by actual heat), no drunken photographs. Just the promise of sweets and a fun robotic show. Lovingly called Yaskawa-kun by the Japanese populous, customers use a touch screen to order their favorite ice cream flavor and toppings. Yaskawa-kun does the... Continue reading
Motorized Ice Cream Cones Save You The Trouble of Rotating Your Wrist
I’ll tell you right where this product fails. It’s not edible. Us American love to eat (and make love) to our gadgets. The fact that I can’t bite into this thing and expect a waffle and ice cream explosion in my mouth tells me that this product is destined to fail. I might be lazy, but I’m not lazy enough to sacrifice my love for all things edible. Aptly available for purchase from Stupid.com.. Link [via]

As a final project at The Department of Technological Studies at Ohio Northern University, a team of 26 students spent 5 weeks creating a machine that can create ice cream. The end result is a robot that makes a delicious treat for all to enjoy. I’m sure they could have just whipped up a gelato or something in a kitchen, but hey, where’s the education in that? Link

Either way, every geek loves ice cream and today is Free Cone Day. Free Cone Day is when you go to a Ben & Jerry’s store (find yours here) and wait in line with a million other people for a free ice cream cone. Don’t complain. Get out there... Continue reading
