Hulu Launches Desktop App

huludesktopplayer

I love Hulu. Thanks to Hulu, my roommates and I were able to cancel our cable subscription and now watch all our favorite shows on Hulu, save for the HBO and Showtime stuff. Now, in an out-of-the-blue move, Hulu has released a desktop app that lets you watch shows without a web browser. But be warned! I just went to download it and don’t even own a computer fast enough to run the program. Check out these minimum requirements for Mac users:

Minimum requirements: Intel Pentium Core Duo 2.0GHz At least 2.0 GB of RAM Mac OS X v10.4 (Tiger) or later 2 Mbps Internet connection Flash 9.0.124

The requirement is more or less the same for Windows users. Such a beastly app! If anyone with a brand new computer has the time to try this thing out, let us know how it is. It even has support for the Apple Remote!

Hulu iPhone App in the Works; Release Planned In Next Few Months

Dance party time! This has been on the top of my application wish list as long as I can remember having one. According to an industry executive in the know, Hulu is developing a “badass” iPhone application which would allow users to watch video over both Wi-Fi and 3G connections.

While other video web applications have taken a stab at the iPhone application arena, such as Joost and TV.com, Hulu is totally set to blow them out of the water. Which really won’t be that challenging. Have you ever used Joost’s app? Yikes. The only question is will Apple approve an app which poses such competition to their iTunes video store? It sure could help sell more iPhones.

Hulu Has Weird Science

Not doing shit this week? Me neither. Let’s all stay home the entire week and watch episodes of Weird Science on Hulu.com. Of course I’m referring to the television show, not the awesome movie which has Bill Paxton turned into a Jabba the Hutt lookalike. Enough about the movie, check out the episodes Hulu is hosting and enjoy this awesome one right here on Gearfuse!
