dual-hdd-esata

How much data you packin’ over there? Enough to have extra hard drives laying around, full of media? This Dual HDD Docking Station allows for any two 2.5″ or 3.5″ SATA harddisks to connect to your computer via the eSATA port.

This plug-and-play driverless docking station is great if you just want to have all of your data supplied to one computer at one time and the eSATA support is great for those of you who are into that sort of thing.

JVC Mega Storage Everio Camcorder

I’m tired of my camcorder running out of room. If only there was a camera that was capable of storing over 50 gigs of my Benny Hill impersonations. What’s this? JVC announces two new cameras that have larger hard drives than my desktop PC. The JVC Everio GZ-MG840 and GZ-MG880, both capable of 720×480 wide format DVD-resolution video and a 352×240 resolution format, optimized specifically for YouTube.

The Everio is the juggernaut of storage capacity when it comes to camcorders. The 60GB for $750 and the 120GB for $810 are two models already available in Japan which have us sitting in the dark, waiting for a release in the states.

CyberPower’s Core i7 Gaming PC: The Black Pearl

Intel’s Core i7 processors are wicked fast. Faster than that new Lamborghini we know nothing about. Of course, the earliest devices that will utilize the processor are gaming PCs. The Core i7 was officially launched yesterday and computer companies like CyberPower are already stocking the assembly lines with this quad-core powerhouse.

CyberPower unveiled its latest and fastest gaming PC, the Black Pearl, which will pack the Intel’s new Core i7 processor inside. With a 3.2GHz 965 Extreme Edition CPU and a sickening 12GB of RAM, this computer is looking too fast for its own good. Crysis on the highest settings powered by a dual ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphic cards with 2GB video RAM? Ain’t nothing for this PC. Try two Crysis’ on the highest setting running simultaneously. This computer can handle it, no problem. There plenty of room for all your pirated software, so storage space will never be an issue. It has two separate 300GB HDD, 10,000RPM SATA II units from Western Digital. Or perhaps you’d prefer to use the 1TB, SATA II drive, which is also included. Not bad for a gaming rig that’s only priced at $3,999.

DIY: HDD Grinder To Sand Down Dull Tools

Have a bunch of old hard drives collecting dust in your closet? Why not turn them into something practical? You could turn one into an orchestra of annoying buzzing sounds or perhaps a clock. Jipa of Metku Mods has turned his deadbeat HDD into a grinder for sanding or sharpening. All it took was a little re-arranging of disks and some sand paper. Oh, and imagination. Imagination is the key to the universe.

Chocolate Bar-like Portable HDD Concept

chocolate_folder2.jpg

Hershey chocoholics might want to steer clear of this concept device, as it might make them crave the lusciousness of sweet milk chocolate even more. Each piece of this portable HDD is a modular flash drive, which allows users to chunk their info together to produce one large mega-drive.

The central display is a touchscreen that helps you manage your files and keep tabs on which flash drive is what. If it wasn’t sure to be so expensive, I might even consider eating this device with a tall glass of milk. — Andrew Dobrow

37GB HDD records 2500 hours of your fav radio programs, until you get sick of it

olympus.jpg

This is so 1960s mentality but wouldn’t it be great to record all your radio programs on to a huge harddisk? Olympus might have the answer for you, their new Radio Server VJ-10 tunes AM/FM radios and have a reasonably good pair of 28mm unit stereo speakers with SRS WOW XT technologies, the most important part is the built-in 37GB harddisk that can save up to 2500 hours of radio programs in WMA format. Line-in voice recording and standard 3.5mm headphone jack are all there. The USB 2.0 port makes it possible for you to transfer music (MP3/WMA) from your computer and have them played on the VJ-10, so it’s not a bad deal afterall. The version with 6-month worth of NHK English language program pre-install will be priced at 400USD, and the one without would be 350USD. –Sam Chan

Toshiba forgets about next-gen DVD with two new DVD players

toshiba rd-s600 hdd dvd

Are you completely sick and tired of hearing about the constant battle between what companies are supporting Blu-ray or HD-DVD? Well, even though toshiba is decidedly HD-DVD, they have just released two DVD or HDD players. In interesting part (and a disadvantage to some) is that they have no support for either Blu-ray or HD-DVD.

The two models are named the RD-S600 and the RS-S300. So what do they offer instead of next-gen DVD tech? They offer huge hard drives. The 600 and the 300 offer 600GB and 300GB drives, respectively. They have DVD burners, an HDMI port, and and upscale your content to 720p/1080i video. No price released yet, but those hard drives won’t be cheap. — Nik Gomez

Marshal HDD case turns any of your hard disks drop-proof

marshal mal-0325

We showed you anti-shock notebooks and tablet PCs, but you know how anti-shock products are like- very arguable size, design and price-tag. Sony and a lot of other manufacturers have also installed shock-proof hard disks into laptops in case you drop them, the idea is to protect the data rather than the screen and everything else (hypocrites!), we all know that they’re not deemed to survive in such situations, and when they do, we call ourselves extremely lucky. Japanese company Marshal has started selling this smart-looking hard disk casing that fits any of the 2.5 inch hard disks you pick up in the market; it has passed the 1-meter drop test, so it does what it claims, i.e. protects your hard disk when you accidentally push it over your desk. The Marshal HDD case uses the USB interface, measures 84×127x23mm and weighs 60g by itself. It is only selling for $20 in Japan now. For all that compact size, fail-safe design and bargain price, my name is down for not one but three of these. — Sam Chan

Kenwood HD10GB7 for picky ears

kenwood hd 10gb7

Here’s Kenwood’s answer to iPod. Why do we care? Well, I am going to tell you that this is the smallest harddisk-based media player in the world. We’re not talking about 1,2,4 or 8GB, we’re talking about a 10GB. So you have a 1″ HDD and a square color screen packed into the 62×44x17mm package with 24 hours of juice. What you wouldn’t expect are the “Clear Digital Amp” and “Supreme Sound Engine” technologies built in, these are supposed to smooth out some audio compression artifact. So far, all professional reviews have come back quite positive. Oh the best part is that Kenwood does not force you to install any annoying softwares, you can simply drag your music across your Windows Explorer. If you are a goodie goodie, you can still use the Windows Media Player to manage your WM DRM10 files. The Kenwood Media Keg HD10GB7 is retailing for about 450 USD in Japan today, as usual the company has no plans to export such great device. — Sam Chan
