Batman with a Beard: Adding Beards to Beardless Characters

beardedbatman1

Just as I always wondered what my favorite mustachioed people of history looked like without their trademark facial hair, I’ve equally wondered what some of my favorite film and game characters would look like with added beards. It’s a thought that has plagued my dreams for years, but having no talent for art myself, and having no magical beard growing powers, there was nothing I could do. Thankfully, someone with a little talent had the same thought.

Croatian illustrator Vanja Mrgan had a few questions of his own concerning beards and famous faces. The result are a set of geeky illustrations which will rock your beard-loving universe.

TiVo Gets Bailed Out By Netflix

Step aside Microsoft, there’s a new Netflix streamer in town. Today, Netflix announced that it has added TiVo to its growing list of streaming partners. Being that TiVo’s subscriber base hasn’t grown much since 2005, we’re thinking TiVo needs this partnership more than Netflix; considering Netflix has already partnered with LG, Microsoft and Samsung.

Netflix will be available to TiVo Series3, TiVo HD and TiVo HD XL owners. The two companies will begin testing the new service today in “several thousand” U.S. households, and it’s expected to be widely available in early December. Whether or not this will keep TiVo in the business of DVR remains to be seen. For TiVo’s sake, this partnership should keep them in the running for a few more years.

Water Your Ring Every Day

She’s hot, right? Check out that ring on her finger. It’s a combination of jewelry and gardening which can only mean one thing: she’s marrying a hippy. Iceland designer Hafsteinn Júlíusson wants to bring nature into everyday couture. This form of jewelry is not for everyone, however. One must take good care of their Growing Jewelry or else it’ll fade like any other plant uncared for.

Hafsteinn states: “It is important to take good care of Growing Jewelry. The owner must water it regularly and nurture it like any other plant. So it’s up to the owner to make sure that the jewelry is at its best.”

Now, if the grass on the ring fades, would it be possible to replant the seeds or would you need a whole new ring? I’d imagine it’d be possible, though you probably wouldn’t be able to wear it during it’s earlier stages of growth. Regardless, this ring is sure to get a lot of attention from the folks who frequent Phish shows.

Slow And Steady Wins The War On Drugs

Growing marijuana is a crime and that’s a damned shame. It’s no mystery that it’s a great pain reliever and can turn any award winning drama into a laugh-out-loud comedy. The war on drugs has always been a controversial topic in the realm of political agenda and the media. It’s only getting more controversial now that they’re busting growers with GPS turtles. Yes, GPS turtles.

After reports of several marijuana fields throughout Rock Creek Park south of the DC/Maryland line, the U.S. Park Police set up surveillance. Ordinarily that would mean they equipped the area with strategically placed cameras, but instead they exposed this grower with help from a box turtle fashioned with a GPS device. They eventually found the little guy crawling through a big pot field. What a terrible way to go down…busted by a turtle.
