Sam’s Club Has Geeks On Call To Overcharge You And Fix Nothing

It’s no mystery that Geek Squad, the subsidiary computer repair service of the Best Buy Company, is known for its incompetence and over-pricing in computer maintenance. After all, it’s Best Buy. Now, these computer services are sprouting up alongside many other major retailers.

A week after Dell announced its tech-support services with Wal-Mart, the retail chain Sam’s Club (which is owned by Wal-Mart) stated it will be adding a computer repair service to 20 of its stores. It’s called “Geeks on Call” and as the name implies, they make house calls. It’s not enough that Wal-Mart wants to produce cheap personal computers that are built to break, now they want to provide expensive services to repair them.

Anna Logue Isn’t Too Hot, But That D20 Die Is

annadice

It’s Friday and I’m sitting here looking at a really busted chick. Nothing new, except that this time around, the busted chick is Nerdpr0n.com’s founder, Anna Logue. There really isn’t anything special about this woman, except that she’s straight up a nerd. No other word for it. She’s a true nerd.

The above picture shows her posing with a giant D20 D&D die, which is cool as fuck to an extent. But the pictures of her dressed up in a Star Trek uniform and as Harley Quinn from Batman. Now if only she heard about Curves or Jenny Craig. Then we’d be money.

Go Get Your Free Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream

Some might argue that ice cream is not related to technology. If you saw how Ben & Jerry’s cranks out all those pints of Americone Dream, you’d probably beg to differ. Either way, every geek loves ice cream and today is Free Cone Day. Free Cone Day is when you go to a Ben & Jerry’s store (find yours here) and wait in line with a million other people for a free ice cream cone.

Don’t complain. Get out there and get a cone. I’m going for the Carmel Sutra. What flavor are you going to demand from B&J? Let us know in the comments.

Baby, I’m Going To Lay You Down In Front Of My USB Logo Candle

Us geeks have our own way of pulling romance out of out asses. When we’re geekly romantic, it’s either severely intentional, or so unintentional that the ladies look at our naivety as cuteness. Either way, we get some bootay. Am I right? The USB Logo Candle falls under the severely intentional category.

If I know anything about geeks, I can almost guarantee that none of them would use this USB Logo Candle as just another classy design piece to add to their home. When they whip something like this out, it’s serious business time. Either that, or the candle holder used to dimly light the chamber you use to sacrifice a PC in the name of the Apple poly-lords. — Andrew Dobrow

Art For The Geek Mind

art2.jpg

The geek mind is sometimes ignorant to the abstract, such as fine art. Flickr user Paulthewineguy has put together a photo set which translates art into a language geeks can understand.

Using emoticons and code, these pieces of art are much easier to admire, being a geek, than ever before. Art snobs beware, as this might make you feel a guttural moan form in your belly. (more…)

Frat boy meets fanboy in the Nintendo Fraternity House

frathouse_1.jpg

There’s a fine line between being a fan and being a fanatic. This Nintendo-themed Frat House is off the charts fanaticism at its very finest. A chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon decided to turn their master quarters into a Nintendo fanboy’s dream.

The frat features a laser shooter staircase, a Duck Hunt inspired foyer, paper-mache characters, and other Nintendo references that us geeks can truly appreciate. The photos of the crazy house say it all. We bow down to you fine sirs. (more…)

Ngai Luen Electric Guitar-shaped CD Player

guitarcd1_1.jpg

Ngai Luen presented its Guitar-shaped CD Player at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair 2007. What could possibly be the function of a Guitar-shaped CD Player? Two words: Nabbing chicks. The ladies love music, and they sure as hell love guys who play guitar. And us geeks need all the aid props we can get.

The CD Player has speakers integrated into its body with the volume controlled by the usual Guitar volume knobs. It’s also gonna be available in a variety of big named corporate and trendy designs, so Viva Las Ngai Luen. (more…)

DIY: Google Map Icons in real life

Want to make a geek take a second glance? Try setting up one of these real Google Map icons somewhere in your town. Watch as the geeks fear over their sanity. “I think I was on the computer way to long last night”. The fear of being brainwashed will drive them mad.

This would be an absolutley awesome idea for a candid camera trick. We would laugh with complete glee. Mwahaha. — Andrew Dobrow

Odd Beethoven wearing sunglasses clock

beethoven.jpg

The famous bust sculpted to Beethoven’s image is now an odd clock. For the sole reason of displaying the time, sunglasses were added on to the bust. The hour shows up on the left lens and the minutes show up on the right.

We would love to own something like this, but there seems to have been only 100 of these babies made. Anyone want to make a clone product? ThinkGeek maybe? Oh, well. No price information seems to be available, but we can imagine from the limited number that this is a product only rich geeks can dream of owning. — Andrew Dobrow
