If you spend most of your time in a alternative world, you might as well start integrating your real life right into it. Online virtual world Second Life is looking to roll-out a system that would allow you to receive real life phone calls in the Second Life game.

Second Life developer Linden Lab has created a way for online avatars to recieve real life phone calls, which will be integrated into game play at some point in early 2008. Second Life users will have their real life phone numbers associated with their avatars, relying on the voice technology already used in-game. — Andrew Dobrow

Guitar Hero 80’s Edition cover art revealed

GH80s.jpg

I must admit, I am not a fan of hair metal in the least, which is why this game doesn’t seem to be doing much for me. For those of you tossing and turning over the upcoming Guitar Hero: Rocks The 80’s, the recently released cover art might stir up some more excitement.

Revealed with the cover art are two possible new characters to choose during game play. And, yeah, they are indeed very 80’s. Big blonde hair, headbands, and all. But don’t let the pastels fool you, 80’s will make a punch with some of the best of 80’s rock and metal. — Andrew Dobrow

LucasArts unveils Fracture, the Earth changing shooter

Picture_2_1.png

LucasArts, in conjunction with Day 1 Studio, has announced their newest addition to the gaming world with the new brand, Fracture, which is sure to have a slew of sequels in the future. The main unique feature of the new game will be something called Terrain Deformation, which will be a nifty little gadget to change the land to aid in game play. Meaning if you need to reach a ramp at a higher height, Terrain Deformation can lift the land for you.

LucasArts has released some crap games in the past with high hopes of intense gaming environments, so even though the game looks pretty cool, we wouldn’t get our minds too attached just yet. But honestly, we just want a new kickass game to play. Fracture is expected to be released in mid-2008. Vid after the jump. (more…)

Sony PS3 Eye to join hands with Sony’s crappy game selection

sonyplaystationeye_lg_1.jpg

The next-gen Sony PS3 Eye couldn’t have been designed any more poor. With sales nose-dropping through America, the very LAST thing Sony needs is an ugly, clunky peripheral. But yet here we are. Displaying exactly that.

The Sony PS3 Eye updates a few of its features, such as an added light sensor to make those low-light situations at least manageable. The frame rate is also improved to allow for better motion sensitive game play, with a QVGA FPS of 120 and a VGA resolution of 60 FPS. The new Eye also comes with EyeCreate to capture audio and video, and adding some crap stock effects. Available this summer for a TBA price. — Andrew Dobrow

Dance Dance Revolution….Tap style

usbdance

Dance Dance Revolution better look into their copyright infringement laws on this one. The USB Dance Mat is a way for DDR addicts to get their fix of dance madness, even at work. The Dance Mat plugs right into your USB port and works similar to the way the normal DDR works, except it is completely played using your fingers. The game play is reminiscent of the old Simon games as you have to follow the patterns of lights to ramp up your score.

The Dance Mat comes with a little dance puppet to stick your fingers thorough, making your claws look like John Travolta grooving in Saturday Night Fever. Playing the game is as easy as plugging it into the nearest USB drive. Just try and make sure it’s your own. Available for $13.16. — Andrew Dobrow

resident evil 5

The long and successful line of Resident Evil games are looked at one of the most popular game brands of all-time. With the long anticipation of a fifth installment, details are finally starting to me revealed. It is being reported that RE5 will be released in 2008 to both PS3 and Xbox 360. The graphic displays are monumental looking, with super realistic hair and facial expressions, the R.E. brand has just begun. The interactive environments are said to be more advanced then any yet released, including a temperature function which will somehow effect game play. When can we see more? — Andrew Dobrow
