Fusion Man Makes It Across The English Channel

Remember the Swiss “Fusion Man” Yves Rossy who attempted to cross the English channel in his jet powered wing suit? Well, he made it. Rossy is the first person to ever fly between France and England with a jetpack strapped to his back.  This historic flight took only 10 minutes as the “Fusion Man” flew at speeds of up to 120 MPH.

It took him at least five years to develop the jet-propelled device, which seems to have paid off in the long run, forever marking him in the history books of aviation. Congratulations to Mr. Rossy for his successful venture.

3-D Tattooing

Found in France, design studio Boucherie Moderne has created some killer three-dimensional tattoos. While some claim they look “animated,” I feel that these are just standard 3-D images on skin. Slap on a pair of glasses and it’ll look like it’s popping out at you. I’d love to get one on my fist. That way, when I punch someone, I can claim they wanted to check out my tattoo.

Whatever you get, make sure it’s something you won’t regret later.

French Train System Using RFID-enabled USB Drives

If any of our francophone readers happen to be in France soon, be sure to let us know how your trip was. More specifically, we want to know if French transit company SNCF has expanded it’s trial RFID program. Passengers will receive a USB drive with an RFID chip inside it. You can add money to the account via RFID or hand it to an attendant who will refill it over USB. SNCF wants to have all it’s customers using the system by 2010, so we’ll see what happens. Remember: security always plays a huge part.

Fusion Man Attempting To Cross English Channel

Swiss “Fusion Man” Yves Rossy who debuted his jet powered wing suit back in May wants to fly across the English channel from Callais to Dover. Rossy is confident that his wing can make the journey. Last week he took a 22 mile test flight in Switzerland. His planned channel route should be approximately 29-30 miles.

Rossy launches his jet pack from a plane. He lands his rocket wing by turning off the engines and parachuting to the ground. Rossy’s jet pack reaches insane speeds 186 m.p.h. at altitudes of about 8,200 feet. His mission will supposedly be streamed live on the National Geographic Channel. We’ll keep you posted when we find a date and time for the broadcast.

Carl Craig Performing With Parisian Orchestra

If you’re not familiar with Carl Craig, Google around and I’m sure you’ll find out that he’s one of the pioneers of techno and electronic music. In recent years, his music has taken more of a house/ethnic approach that has pushed the boundaries of modern electronic music. For our readers in France, if you’re around the Cité de la Musique in Paris come October 18th, you’ll be able to catch the Les Siècles Orchestra performing Craig’s tracks. Craig will be there mixing in the orchestra with the electronic bleeps and beats. Expect ass-shaking from everyone come nightfall unless Craig pussies out and ends up beat-syncing (that’s a pun on lip-syncing FYI).
