More Olympic Shenanigans

First, it was digitally altering the fireworks. Now those commie bastards are at it again! According to The Telegraph, the little 9-year-old girl in the red dress than sung “Hymn to the Motherland” during the opening ceremony, Lin Miaoke, is nothing more than a puppet. Turns out a small girl with “buck teeth” called Yang Peiyi was hitting all the notes backstage while the bitch in the red dress danced around.

At the last moment a member of the Chinese politburo who was watching a rehearsal pronounced that the winner, a girl called Yang Peiyi, might have a perfect voice but was unsuited to the lead role because of her buck teeth.

So, on the night, while a pre-recording of Yang Peiyi singing was played, Lin Miaoke, who has already featured in television advertisements, was seen but not heard.

“This was a last-minute question, a choice we had to make,” the ceremony’s musical designer, Chen Qigang, said. “Our rehearsals had already been vetted several times - they were all very strict. When we had the dress rehearsals, there were spectators from various divisions, including above all a member of the politburo who gave us his verdict: we had to make the swap.”

Seriously. Way to go, China. Your reputation is getting more and more sour by the minute. I fear that by the end of the Olympics, you’ll have rendered gold medals for every Chinese athlete using computer graphics.

Olympic Fireworks Digitally Altered

The Olympics are in full swing and even though those commie bastards from China cut our national anthem short during Phelps’ award ceremony, we still know the USA rules. Apparently, some of the people in China really do have small dicks, because according to a report from The Beijing Times, people watching the opening ceremony from home were treated to a 55-second CGI graphics sequence. Thought those fireworks were real? Not even close.

Speaking to The Beijing Times, an advisor to the Beijing Olympic Committee (BOCOG) defended the decision: “It would have been prohibitive to have tried to film it live,” he said.
“We could not put the helicopter pilot at risk by making him try to follow the firework route.”

So when you see Michael Phelps being eaten by a mutant dinosaur and Chinese gymnasts flying 100-feet above the stadium, remember to keep the computer trickery in mind.

Fake LG KE970 Shine: same size, same weight, priced less than $100

shine_clone2_1.jpg

LG was sending out warning letters to shops threatening to take legal actions should they sell/ display the Chinese clone of LG Shine, we never understood why they’re so uptight about it until we saw this today.

We learned that the the clone is called Diamond KG70 Shine, and from what we see, it looks almost like the original. With the same silvery finishing, same size, same weight (3g difference), same scroll wheel, same 2.2″ QVGA screen and same 64 chords polyphonic ringtones. The camera is a 1.3 megapixels fixed focus module, a microSD slot that is not found on the original KE870 is also added. This baby is priced just under $100 online, you might want to be quick before LG gets serious. We have a picture of the backside after the jump, which looks just as close as the front.

Nokia sues shops, but not the N73 clone manufacturer

nokir.jpg

Pictured above is the infamous N73-clone, called Nokir E828, produced by a mainland Chinese company (NOKIR) next to the real Nokia N73 (on the right), it has been selling well enough to catch Nokia’s attention. However the company did not have enough evidence to go against the manufacturer and the copyright-protection laws are a bit tricky in mainland China, so instead they decided to bully the tiny tiny shops that are selling the Nokir E828 in Hong Kong. Those poor scapegoats are asked by the representing law firm to relinquish all the stock voluntarily and pay a HKD 30,000 ($3870) fine for the damage incurred. Most of those shops are only run by 1-2 people in a space no bigger than 25 squared feet in Mong Kok (a more ghetto part of Hong Kong). According to the shopkeepers, they’ve been trying to get in touch with Nokia as the deal is not fair, so far they have received no reply.

The Nokir E828 is a dualband GSM phone that houses a 2.6″ QVGA touchscreen and a 2 megapixels camera. MP3 and MP4 are supported and the memory expansion used is microSD. Being smaller and lighter than the N73 (110×55x14mm 105g), the E828 seems to have everything a fanboy would dream of, check out the $100 price tag, too: unbeatable. You’ll have to be very lucky to find any of these after this incident though. –Sam Chan

Lexus concept car looks like Minorty Report, only exterior is real

lexus concept car

Are you one of the few left who are still obsessed with Tom Cruise? If not, don’t worry, this car still looks hot, and you can still buy it. This gorgeous Lexus was made completely custom for the movie Minority Report (w/ Tom Cruise).

Now don’t be suprised when I say that this picture isn’t of the real car, it’s only of a replica. Which is why it isn’t going for over $1 million on eBay… it’s only going for a measly $88,000. Yes, 88 grand for a car with a Chevrolet V6 engine and next to no interior. But it still looks nice? Doesn’t it? –Nik Gomez

SnoWonder creates snow in your living room

snowonder

Everyone loves snow right? Well, everyone loves the concept of snow and the amazing photos is makes for, but barely anyone likes the freezing temperatures it requires to even be present. SnoWonder takes care of the temperature problem of snow, so it doesn’t turn into a puddle of dirty water when you want to be in a warm living room by your fire. All it is is a special powder that expands to 100 times its original size when water is added to become a mass of fake snow for you to play with. It’s unfortunate that this stuff can’t be blasted on mountainsides this winter and make up for the lack of snow right now. SnoWonder starts at around $7 which will make you 10 cups of the room temperature stuff.

SnoWonder is the most amazing man-made snow on the market! It is visually identical to real snow. If you pour a bowl of SnoWonder on real snow, you cannot tell the difference, yet it can be used indoors for months without melting! This is the replacement for styrofoam and cotton snow that home and professional decorators and designers have waited decades for.
