Lemon and Lime Slice Cubes

I love the concept of these Ice and Slices trays. Slice up a lemon or a lime, put it in the tray, add water and freeze. Presto. Next time you have a vodka cocktail or something equally fruity on the rocks, you can just drop in a few slice cubes of lemon or lime. Genius! Only a mere six bucks.

Ironic Coffee Poster Is Actually Useful

If you’re one of those people who relies heavily on a craft cup of coffee each morning, you’ll find this chart very helpful. It shows you how to make different drinks involving espresso. The Caffe Mocha, Americano and Caffe Latte are all here. Just add said amount of espresso, pile on the steamed milk and add a little foam. Presto! Caffeine at it’s finest. Just make sure you have an equally impressive mug.

Bottle Cap Craze

Filed under: DIYs, Design, Eco-tech, Household

Just in time for the 2008 Green Design Festival in Athens, Greece comes a fresh look from Athanassios Babalis. Keeping it eco-tech, Athanassios created a shopping bag and a stool from recycled bottle caps. Think it was an easy task? Oh my friend, you are quite mistaken.

Babalis collected the caps from his workmates and an extended network of friends using 370 to make the bag and 1250 for the stool.

That’s a shitload of bottle caps but it probably wasn’t too hard acquiring them. Unlike Pringles, caps aren’t incredibly hard to design things with. Hit the link below to see a diagram that explains the entire process.

Siphon A Gas Tank With The Constructable Drinking Straw Kit

Ever want to drink from two different drinks, simultaneously? Shouldn’t be too hard with a constructable drinking straw kit. The rubber connector pieces come in several leak-proof designs so you can construct all sorts of abstract drinking mechanisms. At $14, much fun is to be had constructing a gas tank to gas tank siphoning kit. Who says you need to breathe in toxic fumes to get free gas!?

So I got one and tried out two different drinks simultaneously. One glass of Sunny D and one glass of Yoo-Hoo, finished off at the same time. It was not looking good for me that following morning.

Another Stunning Rube Goldberg Machine

Filed under: DIYs, Misc. Gadgets, Science

So you’ve seen the Star Wars Rube and the perhaps that viral ad Cadbury did with the eggs. Now we’ve found a Rube Goldberg machine that most Americans would be proud to build. It’s none other than a cocktail-mixing machine! But not just any cocktail…

This Rube Goldberg machine makes sheer delight out of the process of mixing a Falling Water ( 30mls (1Oz) 42BELOW Feijoa Vodka, lemonade, long slice of seedless cucumber, ice

Personally, I’d prefer a machine that could pour whiskey into my mouth in 10-minute intervals. That’s a slice of heaven in my book.

R/C Pool Server Proves God Exists

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical of a man living in the clouds watching mankind like a lousy Nick at Night sitcom. However, news of a remote controlled floating tray that delivers refreshing beverages is proof that there is a god and that he isn’t a dick.

Like the floating speaker, relaxing by the pool just got a bit more - well, relaxing. This remote controlled float can hold up to five drinks and has a center bowl perfect for nachos. Just don’t shit in the pool. Like a shitty raft, it’s just begging to be sent down the Nile. You know, like Moses.

fordflexfridge

Ford’s 2009 Flex has a $760 option to equip your car with a fridge and/or freezer in the backseat. This makes those long hauls upstate more luxurious as you’ll be making less pit-stops for food with one of these equipped in your ride. The compartment isn’t large but it is capable of holding seven 12-ounce cans or even four half-liter bottles. That’s more than enough for a car pooling trip to Mexico. Just don’t neglect to declare what you have in your backseat fridge to the Federales, otherwise you’ll be spending the next few decades behind steel bars.

Drinking Tonight? Make Sure You Try The Ice Sphere

iceballsinurmouth

I’m a huge whiskey and scotch drinker, so when I heard that using non-spherical ice cubes in your glass causes the liquor to become watered down easily, I immediately snapped into action. I found out that Taisin, a relatively unheard-of Japanese company, has a device that forms ice into perfect spheres, creating a better surface-area/volume ratio.

Dubbed The Ice Mold, you can score the brass contraption in 50, 65, 70 and 80mm sizes. It can crank them out pretty quickly too, meaning your dinner party won’t suck as much this time around. If your hands get cold after making a few ice balls, you can always use your USB Hand Warmer to bring back the heat.
