Got Crabs?

sodacrabs

No, no. Not the kind your ex-girlfriend gave you. Sheesh.

The kind with the blue legs that taste delicious and melt in your mouth? Try again.

Half-Life? No, no. That’s a headcrab.

Guys and gals, I’m talking about the soda can crab. Look at this cute little bugger. Don’t you want to take him home and let him collect dust on your work desk? Aww! Nah, I kid. Instructables user Chaitanyak was kind enough to post a full tutorial on how to turn a soda can into a metal crab. It’s an easy, quick and, more importantly, fun activity that you and your kids can do on a rainy day. See? Gearfuse cares about crabs.

Breaking: Circuit City Liquidated, 35,000 Jobs Lost

MSNBC is reporting that Circuit City is done. Reports are saying that over 35,000 people will be out of a job by the time the entire company is liquidated. There’s not really any more information other than that and I’m not seeing this on other major news sites. Stay tuned if there’s mind-blowing information to be had. Otherwise, you heard it here (after MSNBC of course).

Left 4 Dead Papercraft Tank

I like killing zombies. I also enjoy Half-Life. On the other hand, seeing this papercraft Tank inspired by Valve’s latest multiplayer zombie-fest, Left 4 Dead, makes me wish I was confronted by a real life Tank face-to-face so it can bash my skull in rather than me crafting a model of it out of paper. Look how shapeless and thin it is compared to the actual Tank in the game! Still, I’ll take what I can get.

If you haven’t played Left 4 Dead, shame on you. You think Resident Evil 5 is going to be better?

Morbid Knitting For Psychopaths

These morbid creations bear a creepy resemblance to that severed horse head plush we wrote about and they’re also more blood-soaked than that Army Of Darkness knit doll. Knit creations become a little more bizarre when carrots are killing rabbits and pink unicorns are out for blood.

Andieman26 posted these on his Flickr account and now I’m questioning his better judgment. Could he be the next Minneapolis Mangler? With knit creations like these, I wouldn’t put it past the guy.

SawStop Creator Shoves Finger Into Blade

While I love power tools of all shapes and sizes, I don’t own many due to the lack of a workspace in my home. However, I did take enough shop classes in high school to know what a sharp metal blade can do to your finger. That’s why inventor Steve Gass created the SawStop, a mechanism that senses electrical conductivity and stops the blade instantly when it comes in contact with a finger or body part. Watch the above video as Steve and some friends talk table saws for a few minutes. Towards the end, Steve puts his own finger on the line to promote his product and to demonstrate how safe it really is. I think the results will surprise you.

“I Do” Laser Etched Wedding Ring

Here’s a wedding ring that’s out of the ordinary. A “Yes, I Do” sound wave is cut-out of the ring. No engraving your significant other’s favorite love poem on this ring. There’s no room for it. Designer Sakura Koshimizu uses lasers to cut out the shape of the waveform produced from your own “Yes I Do.”

Using some sound editing software, Sakura records your voice during the ceremony. The software will show the sound waves on the screen, which are then fed into a laser which cuts it out of the silver. She even makes earrings out of the cut-out sound waves. No wasted materials here, folks.

Paper Cuts Are Inevitable When Creating Art

Playing with paper can be quite enjoyable, so long as Hunter Stabler doesn’t show up to outshine your own Chuck Norris papercraft. He’s the Philadelphia-based paper artists whose responsible for the work you see above. An elaborate skull made up completely of carefully cut up paper.

It’s an excellent hobby to show off and if you can create sculptures like the ones Hunter makes, then the paper cuts will be well worth the effort. Let’s face it: working worth paper is no easy task. You’re putting your hands at risk and who knows how many pieces you’re going to go through before you obtain that paper AA gun you’ve been striving for.

Chuck Norris Papercraft Kicks Ass But Has No More Paper To Take Names

Chuck Norris is a man’s man. I’ve got no idea why, considering most of the movies he’s in suck major ass but he’s good with karate and supports the troops. That’s gotta count for something. As homage to one of the greatest living Internet memes in existence and the Scott McCoy, DeviantArt user Billybob884 has been cutting and pasting like crazy to craft this papercraft model of the most bad ass man in the Universe. Well, next to MacGyver, of course.

He’s also released instructions and the pieces required to make your own.

Playstation 3 Price Cut: I’m Waiting For One More

Sony announced Tuesday that it will cut the price of the 80GB version of the PlayStation 3 from $500 to $400 for this fall in an effort to compete with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and to attract “millions of PlayStation 2 users who are on the cusp of upgrading,” Tretton said. However, if you’re one of those said PlayStation 2 users and all you do is play classic game compilations or 2D fighting games, then making the upgrade now holds little favor for your calloused thumbs.

While dropping the 80GB down to the 40’s price, Sony will be discontinuing the 40GB model, forcing would-be customers into a $400 dollar affair. Now, if Sony had kept the 40GB model and dropped its price tag down to $300, that would’ve really showed Microsoft that its got balls. Maybe next year.
