Next-Gen Credit Card With Keypad and Display

credit-card-screen-keypad.jpg

The “Credit Card Embedded Authentication Device” is a concept creation by Innovative Card Technologies and eMue Technologies, and uses a screen and keypad for extra security (so you can spare your poor Elvis ginger-haired baby the trauma), not to mention a kick-ass new design for the credit card, though perhaps not as sleek as Jacob Palmborg’s future credit card design.

The user types in their pin on the back of the card, at which time a one time transaction pin is shown on the screen to authorize payment. The card itself will be shown off to consumers in November at the Cartes & IDentification event being held in Paris. — Andrew Dobrow

Keyless Locking Mailbox keeps your junk mail and bills safe

mailbox.jpg

Identity theft has become a major problem in today’s world. There are tons of hackers stealing credit card and social security numbers online, but some people still resort to good old mail snooping. The Keyless Locking Mailbox hopes to put your identity in your hands, where it should be.

The mailbox has an angled slot which allows for the mailman to deliver your mail, but the mail cannot be retrieved until you type in your four-digit PIN code onto the touchpad, activating the unlock mechanism. It’s kind of like a USPS mail drop box for your home. Available now in a choice of white or black for $299. — Andrew Dobrow
