Mini Lighter Cufflinks

lighter-cufflinks

These Mini Lighter Cufflinks were available on Etsy before the internet took over and sold out every last pair. Will they be back? Who knows, but lord, these things are awesome.

They’re cufflinks which are actual lighters, meaning you can light up a smoke without even reaching into your pocket. I wouldn’t recommend these if you go a little heavy on the cologne. That could end pretty messy and likely extra crispy.

A Cross Stitch Sampler of the Internet

internet-sampler

Back in the good ole days, crafty old women would test out their hot new stitches on what is known as a cross stitch sampler, basically a strip of cloth with a series of random stitches sewn across it. Most of the time these samplers are tacky and boring, branding cliched messages such as “Home Sweet Home.”

The Internet Cross Stitch Sampler teaches us that samplers don’t have to be the old fuddy duddy norm. You CAN mix the new with the old and come out with something totally awesome. I love every little detail.

DIY: Mario Raccoon Rug

mario-raccoon-rug

Looking for something productive to make with that hidden crocheting talent of yours? This 7 x 7 ft Mario Raccoon Rug took this craftster about 15 days to finish, or about 120 hours, hand crocheting each and everyone of its 386 granny squares.

Pixel crocheting. Now that’s an interesting concept. Taking the old and making it new again. That’s what awesomeness is all about. I bet Mario’s ’stache would feel nice and bushy on my footsies.

Shark Attack Hat Stylishly Simulates The Death of Your Loved Ones

sharkattack

I gotta tell ya. I keep getting more and more convinced that I should take up knitting or sewing, or maybe both. But then I remember that I don’t wear my hair in a bun and my bowel movements are still consistently solid. Sorry, grandma.

This awesome Shark Attack Hat makes reality look like a scene out of a low budget sequel to Jaws (and there has been some doosies.) Yay for carnage and terror!

Knitta Please: Urban Knitting Graffiti

urbangraffiti1

As much as I would hate to share a hobby with my grandmother, this urban knitting graffiti project, Knitta Please, is almost cool enough for me to take up knitting. I said almost cool enough.

A whole tree covered with a surface which resembles that scarf your aunt made you that one year. Now that’s taking crafting to a whole new extreme. Take the jump to see some more awesome examples.

Stuffed MST3K Tom Servo Doll Was Crocheted By Hand

tomservo

In the not too distant future, next Sunday A.D., there was a guy named Joel, not too different from you and me. To make a long story short, he was abducted by a mad scientist and put into space with a collection of ultra-hysterical robots, most notably Tom Servo and Crow. Cambot and Gypsy had their place, but let’s be honest, it wasn’t as lead characters.

Anyway, for those of you who are nuts-o about Mystery Science Theater 3000, here is a totally rad Tom Servo doll which was crocheted by hand. You won’t be finding this in any store unfortunately, but maybe you could convince your grandma to make you your own. And if that doesn’t work, you can always threaten her with a nursing home, or your fists.

Star Wars C-3PO Papercraft: The Droid You Were Looking For?

c3po

Being crafty is often mislabeled as a purely feminine characteristic. If that’s the case, you might as well dress me up in my best Sunday dress and strap a pair of heels on my feet because I love me some papercraft action. Your favorite neurotic droid has just landed on your project table with this intricate papercraft kit, allowing you to create a pretty accurate model of C-3PO.

C-3PO always seemed a little fruity anyway (him and R2-D2 were unnaturally close). Maybe it was the accent? Or maybe it was the way he was always trying to sneak a peek at Han’s package? Whatever. We won’t judge. We’re equal opportunity. We’re not going to hold his homorobotisism against him. He was just programmed that way. Of course, some people who are uninformed in the nature of robotics believe he has a choice.

More Left 4 Dead Arts And Crafts

The tank is back. This time around he’s not throwing cars and crushing skulls with lifeless paper arms. No sir, this tank is born anew thanks to Craftster user windgie79 who crocheted Amigurumi dolls of the entire infected cast of Left 4 Dead for her husband.

The witch, the hunter, the boomer, the tank, the smoker — that’s all of them, right? Aided by a pattern from Creepy Cute Crochet by Christen Haden, it wasn’t long before windgie79 was well on her way to crocheting the troublesome zombie crew of Left 4 Dead in a less horrifying, but more cuddly adaptation.

Left 4 Dead Papercraft Tank

I like killing zombies. I also enjoy Half-Life. On the other hand, seeing this papercraft Tank inspired by Valve’s latest multiplayer zombie-fest, Left 4 Dead, makes me wish I was confronted by a real life Tank face-to-face so it can bash my skull in rather than me crafting a model of it out of paper. Look how shapeless and thin it is compared to the actual Tank in the game! Still, I’ll take what I can get.

If you haven’t played Left 4 Dead, shame on you. You think Resident Evil 5 is going to be better?

You Can’t Do That On Television

Know why? Because this is a plush TV set. It’s simply gorgeous. Color test on the screen, white bezel – fantastic. No one knows who made it and no one will ever find out. That’s because Marc Summers has a grudge. A grudge against the world.

Happy Friday.
