3D Samus Sculpture Made Using Recycled Video Games
Perhaps the hottest heavily-armored digital chica in gaming history, Metroid’s Samus Aran has become known as a kick-ass pioneering female who needs the help of no man. The moment that Samus was revealed as a woman at the end of Metroid changed my life. And I’m clearly not the only one who was inspired by Samus’s robotically-coiffed tactics. Using 179 recycled or broken NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gameboy, and Gameboy Advance cartridges, JJGames created this awesome 3D Samus collage. Each... Continue reading
A Massive Collage of Favicons from the 1 Million Most Popular Sites on the Web
NMAP.org took the favicons of the top 1,000,000 sites on the web and threw them into a single collage, with each favicon sized to represent their overall popularity, We retrieved each site’s icon by first parsing the HTML for a link tag and then falling back to /favicon.ico if that failed. 328,427 unique icons were collected, of which 288,945 were proper images. The remaining 39,482 were error strings and other non-image files. Our original goal was just to improve our... Continue reading

Hello Kitty Made Using Hello Kitty Crap
There are literally hundreds of Hello Kitty doodads flooding the market. I can’t even think of an object that hasn’t in someway been kittified in the past. Well, maybe a particle collider. No Hello Kitty branches in physics quite yet. This Hello Kitty collage of sorts was created using nothing but Hello Kitty-branded crap. You’ll notice lots of pink and lots of white, the key colors of any Hello Kitty product. Zoom on in and you can see the specific... Continue reading
Credit Card Rainbow Collage: Debt is Beautiful
Credit cards don’t mean much these days. For awhile they were so easy to get and use, despite your financial situation, that they have become a second currency, albeit a worthless one. Made using thousands of credit cards, freecards, discount carts and gift cards, the Credit Card Rainbow displays the varied colors of debt, in all of its majesty. Commissioned by Graphic Design Museum in Breda, the Netherlands, the rainbow will be on display until September 2009. So, this is... Continue reading
I Am 8-Bit (Really, I Am)
Here is a collection of screenshots from last weeks fourth annual ‘i am 8-bit’ art display held at the World of Wonder Storefront Gallery in Hollywood. It was chock full of impressively intricate art centered around classic old-school titles like Elevator Action and Donkey Kong. They even had displays of old controllers, people playing arcade games in their underwear and Mario wallpaper. Wish I could’ve been there.
Super Mario Collages Are Super, Mario
Ahh, geek art. Using your game-loving mentality to create a piece of gamer color that can be proudly shown in your humble abode. We imagine long nights, sipping wine by the fire, the sweet smell of leather book binding perfuming the air, as we gaze upon our ultra-classy, and not tacky in the least Super Mario Wall Art Collages, right next to our jaundice-looking Mario Floppy Disc Art.
