iriver Clix2 released in Korea. Smaller, faster, better. Come to the US!

iriver clix2

Right now, iriver can do no wrong. After their stellar performance at CES 2007, it seems that they are walking on water. And following in their holy path is the new Clix2 which has been released in Korea. So what can you expect to see if you happen to be visiting the country that everyone is always jealous of (they always get the good stuff first)?

To begin, it has a 2.2″ AMOLED dislay with an unlimited viewing angle, it plays video back at 30fps, it is smaller than its predecessor, and currently comes in 2 & 4GB capacities. You might want to hold your breath because an 8GB is sure to come out soon! Pricing is in Korean: 159,000 and 199,000 won for 2 and 4 respectively. –Nik Gomez

Cowon D2 tries to take Clix down: 2.5″ QVGA touch screen, 4GB, SD card slot

cowon d2

Recently we heard that the Cowon (iAudio) D1 will not be produced anymore, but fans should be pleasantly encouraged by the company’s announcement this morning. The new Cowon D2 comes with a 2.5â€? QVGA touch screen, all new touchscreen interface and a SD slot (SDHC not supported), all that kept in a fairly small package (56×78x17mm 95g). Music files supported are MP3, WMA (WM DRM10 too), OGG, FLAC and WAV. Video files supported are WMV up to 768kbps as well as MPEG4 AVIs. Bundled is a software for you to convert your MPEG2 and other DiVX files into the format the D2 can read.

Cowon also added a little twist to the stylus, now it can be used as an anchor- a stand for the D2 on the table, in case you want to load your JPEG files in there and use it as a mini picture-frame yes you can definitely do that. The D2 can record FM radio and live audio from the microphone or the ananlog line-in. Cowon also boasted that the D2 can produce sounds up to 74mW (37×2), but we wonder how the European Union would react. The battery can last up to a whooping 52 hours with music and 10 hours with video. The 2GB Cowon D2 will be avaliable in Japan starting on Feb 9 at 230USD, the 4GB model is also on its way.

Wear a Clix- iriver S10 in Full Black

iriver s10

Like the iriver Clix? You’ll like the iriver S10 even more. Retaining the great D-click system (that is, you browse the menu by taping the 4 rims of the screen) and overall design, the S10 is basically a mini-Clix, measuring 42×30x10.8mm and weighing 17.5g. Extremely wearable. What you get is a 1.15″ 65K color OLED screen, the choice of 1GB or 2GB memory, support for MP3, WMA and OGG. FM tuner and voice recorder are retained, but you’ll have to give up some of the functions such as MPEG4 and Flash support. The S10 comes in 2 color schemes, one similar to the old Clix, and the one announced lately is in full black. According to iriver, the battery should last for 8 hours. The S10 is available in limited markets today, but you can expect a worldwide availability soon. — Sam Chan
