Here’s an idea that seems so simple once someone has actually pulled it off. A lot of people have rewards cards or membership cards for various stores they shop at. Instead of carrying around a bulky amount of cards in your wallet, try scanning them and putting the image on your iPhone or comparable mobile device. You’ll save yourself time, space and a headache on your next trip to the store.

What could you possibly use a beaten up tennis ball for, other than a moving aid for a desk? “Not much.” would be the correct answer. Unless, of course, you’re pretty damn creative like the eco-friendly designer of these Redefining Wallets, made from recycled products ranging from trading cards to old tires to ticket stubs.

Redefining Wallets offers a range of products, even check book covers, ranging from around $30 to $70. Every wallet is made using a bunch of old crap, even using laminated trading cards as a main ingredient. After the jump, more wallet-goodness! (more…)

Magic: The Gathering Coming To A Console Near You

Hours and hours of my pre-teen years were spent huddled in circles, dishing on mana cards from my black deck, owning all of those damn counter-spell blue decks people were using for awhile. Gradually, my relationship with Magic: The Gathering grew further and further apart.

Wizards Of The Coast has licensed Magic to be made into a video game for PCs, X-Box Live (both from Stainless Games) and Mac (from Mind Control Software). We’ve played the original Magic card game and the original computer game as well. We can only hope the new game is better than the original. — Andrew Dobrow

SIM Card Manager: Dude, Where’s My Translator?

sim_card_manager.jpg

Looking very much like one of those translating/portable dictionary devices from yesteryear, the SIM Card Manager is actually a lot more useful than you’re led to believe from its appearance. Offering the sexiness of a full QWERTY keypad, the device can save 3 different SIM card phone number databases on its on-board storage, providing you with a back-up plan unless one of the cards takes a turn to the grave.

Following in the footsteps of the old-time organizers it seems to be emulating, at least in design, the SIM Card Manager also adds in the always useful features of a calendar, a 12-digit calculator, a memo function with search capabilities and the security of password protecting your data. Grab your own for $40. — Andrew Dobrow

So that’s what the inside of a SanDisk SD Card looks like!

If pictures of ravaged, dismantled gadgets makes you feel squeamish, you might want to go to another, more tame post. This poor SD card was ravaged by the owners dog after it was spooked by a pet parrot flying out of its cage.

In a disastorous turn of events, the owners SD Card fell to the ground, at which time the suspected dog ripped it to shreds. The dog was promptly beat. Funeral services will be held later in the week. The SD Card was 1 year old and is survived by the two other cards that it was bought with. — Andrew Dobrow
