Official Super Street Fighter IV Teaser Trailer

Capcom has released a neat little cinematic/fight teaser trailer for their upcoming game Super Street Fighter IV. The video features two fighters duking it out over a black background with funky white scribble blooming from the screen.

While there’s no gameplay footage the trailer is pretty neat aesthetically.

Resident Evil Comic-Con Shirt Gives You A Taste For Brains

Don’t let outward appearances misguide you. This simple Capcom Resident Evil shirt from Comic-Con might seem like a harmless plug for a video game, but flip the shirt over your face, half Cornholio-style, and  you might be mistaken as a zombie on the prowl.

Brains aren’t for everyone, but somebody’s gotta do it. It’s the circle of undead.

Nostalgia: Capcom Pad Soldier

capcompad

I’d like to share with you a bit of my childhood. After I bitched enough that SEGA Genesis wasn’t making the grade, my parents got me a Super Nintendo. A few years later, I would be in Babbages (remember those before GameStop bought ‘em out?) and spotted this Capcom Pad for the SNES for a mere $14.99. I bought it.

Apparently this controller is worth a little money nowadays if you have a sealed version. I don’t know why. It basically made it downright impossible to play some games. The only title I managed to sucessfully use it with happened to be F-Zero. Nonetheless, it still brings me back to the days of useless peripherals and 16-bit graphics.

Capcom Developing More iPhone Games

metal-gear-solid-touch

Capcom, maker of Metal Gear Solid and Street Fighter, loves the iPhone. So much, in fact, that in the next year, Capcom will release 10 new titles for the device on the Apple App Store. No details are available on whether or not current titles will be ported to the iPhone/iPod Touch, but keep your eyes peeled for titles relating to Resident Evil as I think we could see a touch-version of the original drop sometime this year. Or at least, one can hope, right?

It Sucks: Mega Man II Hits The iPhone

mega_man_2_screenjpg

I realize that Steve Jobs is really psyched about turning the iPhone and iPod Touch into fully-fledged gaming platforms. That’s great. There are tons of fantastic games for these devices, produced by powerhouse studios and publishers like Electronic Arts. Unfortunately, the classic NES title Mega Man II is not fantastic. Look at this retarded control scheme Capcom set up. It looks like somebody whipped those graphics up in five minutes using Macromedia Flash 4.

Of course, you’re going to play it for a few minutes and become incredibly frustrated. According to reviews ’round the ‘net, the game is nearly impossible to play, especially with so many tough jumps and enemies. Thought the original was easy? Now is the chance to really hone your skills. It’s now available on the App Store for a mere $4.99.

Mega Man 9: Call It A Comeback

You’d best get to your local convenience store and stock up on some Mega Man energy drinks because Mega Man 9 is coming – again. Knowing Capcom, it’ll probably come ten more times because Capcom just can’t quit anything.

Mega Man 9 has been given a release date of September 24th for the WiiWare in Japan. No word on an American release date so far but we’ll keep our eyes peeled. The game is expected to launch on the PSN and Xbox Live as well, but no news or dates have been announced. One can dream!

Nintendo Is Finally Sick Of Pirates

At long last, Nintendo has taken legal action towards companies developing and distributing DS pirating tools, such as the R5 or R4. Nintendo, backed by 54 game software companies including Capcom, SNK, Taito, Tecmo and Square Enix are filing a lawsuit with the Tokyo District Court against companies that profit from Nintendo’s losses.

Nintendo stated that this piracy, “is causing severe damage to our company and software makers, and this is something that we cannot possibly overlook.”

Overlooking it for the past four years was a bad idea, Nintendo. Maybe if you cranked out more drinking games, people wouldn’t find the need to steal your software. To be fair, it is easier to download games from home than to drive to your local retail store. Pirates are lazy.

Which Street Fighter Makes The Cut?

Udon Entertainment is offering a chance to win a free Nintendo Wii game. If you’re a fan of the fighting game genre then you know of Street Fighter. Orders placed today for a limited edition art book based upon Capcom’s storied Street Fighter and the many characters within puts you in the running for a chance to win a copy of Okami for Wii.

Also, Capcom will be creating a collection of figurines based on the upcoming Street Fighter IV. They’re looking for fanboy input, so check out the poll on Capcom’s blog. Now, this isn’t official but c’mon…it’s Capcom! Whenever it gets the chance to bleed out plastic figurines resembling Cammy, it will.

With Street Fighter IV coming our way, the art book would make a great gift for any Capcom fanboy. Don’t forget about Okami, either. That game is sweet.

Resident Evil Wii site launches, short trailer, screenshots

resevil1_1.jpg

The recent rumors of a Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, are now, at least and at last, confirmed. Capcom has launched a Resident Evil Wii edition website, including a short, and kind of shitty, 32 second trailer. Not much is revealed in the trailer that we couldn’t deduce on our own, but it provides a little teaser in solace to wet our palettes.

Also, you can check out more of these low-res screenshots scanned from Famitsu, if you want. It’s not much, but we’ll have more as it breaks. Though for now, it’s not looking impressive. (more…)

Rumor: Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition

re4_wii_1.jpg

A site sniper over at the GoNintendo forums saw a new listing briefly listed on Gamestop titled Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition. With that product name, theres no denying the future plans for the Resident Evil brand. The question is, was this a site typo or was this a company mistake, giving us a little peak at the future? The game listing, which has since been removed, displayed that the fourth installment is set for a July 24th release for $29.99.

Sources who attempted to contact Capcom got neither a confirmation or a denial, further deepening the rumor. A Resident Evil game using the controls of the Wii has got to have some cool navigation. Maybe we’ll be able to really physically beat up zombies now. — Andrew Dobrow
