We’ve seen the king of all case mods and we are bowing down in appreciation of The Dark Blade. The project started in 2004, so the case was a work in progress for over 3 years. We are proud to say the final product was worth the long wait.

Everything from its base to its excellent lighting system oozes with originality and spectacular visuals. This one is going to be hard to beat. Words can only say so much. Just check out the pictures. (more…)

Limb-saving table saw knows the difference between a hand and wood

Construction is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Mostly because the power tools and other equipment they use is so damn dangerous. A small company called SawStop has invented a table saw that only cuts wood, leaving limbs untouched.

The table saw works by sensing electrical currents. When the blade touches something that conducts a current, such as a human finger, the current in the saw drops, stopping the machine in an instant. The momentum of the current causes the blade to drop below the table, literally giving you magic fingers. The whole process takes around three milliseconds. — Andrew Dobrow

DIY: Turn an old rotary telephone into DJ headphones

phones_1.jpg

Back in the day of rave parties, it wasn’t rare to see DJ’s using obsure objects to aid them in their mad skillz. This tutorial will show you how to make your own set of telephone headphones. Long distance chargers may apply.
You’ll need an old rotary phone, which you can pick up for almost nothing at your local thrift store, a soldering iron and solder, a mono male phone plug, and a sharp utility blade. Obtain those rare goods and you two can be the master of obscure DJ props. And if you’re not a DJ, your just a wannabe yo. — Andrew Dobrow
