Bendy Bicycle

Most city dwellers rely on their feet more than anything, but there are more than a handful that prefer to cruise around their respective hoods on wheels. Most of these bikers you’ll see with backpacks or messenger bags, because when you live a city, leaving your bike parked on the street without a lock and chain is not an option unless you’re a softy for self-torture. The Bendy Bicycle, designed by Kevin Scott (we can only assume his father’s name... Continue reading

Iron Man Motorcycle Suit

No guarantees that your biker gang will embrace your new style. But hey, it’s worth a try dammit. The Iron Man Mark V Motorcycle Suit is a great alternative to your Batman Motorcycle Suit, which understandably needs a wash. Come on, you haven’t taken the thing off in months. Nice and easy. That’s good. The Iron Man suit is available in both individual pieces and a complete set. The whole suit will put a $1298 dent in your wallet, but... Continue reading

Concept Nike Glasses Allow Bikers To See Their Surroundings

Trust me, I know how important it is to see all of your surroundings when you’re biking. When I was 12 I was hit by a drunk driver. The Nike Hindsight concept glasses give bikers an extra 25% visual range on each side of their peripheral vision. That’s a... Continue reading

Arduino Speed Vest

Brady Clark and Mykle Hansen made this nifty DIY speed vest for bikers that displays a light-up readout of the wearer’s speed. The vest works thanks to an Arduino open source computer, wheel speed sensor, nine-volt battery, and electroluminescent display. Hansen and Clark describe the speed vest as a “bicycle safety device and advocacy tool.” I don’t really see how this vest does all that. It does manage to make the wearer look like a tool though. I can’t imagine... Continue reading

World’s Safest Horse-Riding Helmet

Horseback riding can be a dangerous hobby. One slip and your brain could be splattered over different area codes. No worries though, because scientists at the Royal Institute of Technology and Karolinska Institute have development a helmet that is said to reduce head and brain trauma due to spills by 40%. The helmet was inspired by nature to create the Multi-directional Impact Protection System or MIPS for short. Simulating the brain’s own protection system, MIPS is based on a dual-layer...
