Little Big Pac-Man And Other Little Big Classics

I sure hope you’ve had a chance to dabble with LittleBigPlanet. If you haven’t, you’re certainly missing out on all of the fan-made levels that have flooded Sony servers, causing SOCOM to be unplayable. With all of the creative power behind the game, it’s no surprise players have already started recreating their favorite gaming classics such as Pac-Man, Tetris, Sonic The Hedgehog, Space Invaders and even Dig-Dug.

There will no doubt be more classics to come as the games creative utilities and player base become larger with each passing day. Looking for something challenging? Check out Vince’s level. He put some time in creating the most frustrating level known to platform games, but also threw in a hidden passage to bypass most of the stage! Genius.

Recreating The Earth’s Magnetic Field - On Earth

Scientists are always trying to replicate phenomenons here on earth. With the Large Hadron Collider attempting to test various theories and even replicate the big bang, you’d think scientists all over the world have their hands full.

On the contrary, scientists at the University of Maryland have their own little maniacal tests to conduct. They’ve built a ten foot high, 30 ton apparatus that’ll attempt to generate a magnetic field by spinning liquid sodium metal, much like the way Earth produces its own magnetic field. John Biggs of CrunchGear suggests putting beer in it. We couldn’t agree more.

We’re Still Alive, Large Hadron Collider Works!

It’s probably not in the best interest of mankind to try and recreate a big bang right here on our planet, but scientists just can’t get enough of attempting to destroy existence as we know it. For those not familiar with the Large Hadron Collider, it’s the world’s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator complex that stretches a whopping 17 miles. Scientists are using it in order to disprove and/or prove many theorems we aren’t sure about today.

Well, I woke up this morning, so the world hasn’t ended. This must mean the Large Hadron Collider was a success. In celebration of waking up to see another blue sky, DVICE has posted a slew of stunning images of the Large Hadron Collider.

Big Daddy Driver Perfect For Any Avid Golfer

No, this isn’t a normal driver. This club doubles as a weed whacker for those lousy moments of the game in which you find yourself off the beaten path of the fairway.  The Bid Daddy Driver will keep you from getting stuck in the rough. Don’t let its nonchalant look fool you as this club packs a mean swing.

With the weed whacker at its base, Big Daddy can also be used as a vile weapon to chop your enemies into fertilizer. It’s only $50 dollars and runs on six (holy shit this thing is almost a Sega Game Gear!) AA batteries. Only to be used for recreational play, this driver is not for the pros. The pros have slaves to cut the grass for them.

Big Lebowski Action Figures Don’t Make You “The Dude” But Close Enough

The Big Lebowski Urban Achiever Set. Featuring the Dude joined by Walter as they get ready for an intense bowling match with The Jesus. Each figure is 8″ tall and the set goes for $40 when they’re available in August.

Also, the Dude comes solo in a $25 dollar variation clad in his famous robe standing on top of the rug and it even includes a replica White Russian.

In the great words of the Big Lebowski: “What makes a man, Mr. Lebowski? Is it being prepared to do the right thing, whatever the cost? Isn’t that what makes a man?” The Dude replies, “Hmmm… Sure, that and a pair of testicles.”

Gigantic Fabric Keyboard

With a design reminiscent of the Nintendo Power Pad, this DIY fabric keyboard seems to keep the basic idea down pat. Off come your shoes and in Tom Hanks fashion, you walk over to the letter you want to type and give it a tap.

It uses the popular Arduino processor to control the letters, which are made out of conductive fabric and perforated foam. The keyboard was found on Flickr user Maurin’s page and he certainly seems to be the crafty builder.

If only Fred Astaire could give this a try.

Sony’s iPod dock sadly has a size 14 footprint

Sony made a product for the iPod? Whoa, did you see that sheep just fall from the sky? No? Oh, well, I guess the world isn’t coming to an end, and Sony really did just release an iPod Docking Station. The CPF-IP001 iPod Docking Station blasts your music at a pretty small size with its 2 15-watt tweeters and its 15-watt sub. What is nice about this is not that it blends with the iPod style, the big thing is that it has a relatively low profile. At least the speakers do. Just take a look at that power adapter and that whole idea of a small footprint just went out of the window… Too bad, Sony really had me there for a second. Anyways, this dock will run you about $250. A premium cost, but you are getting a pretty big sound for its size. –Nik Gomez
