Real-Life Portal T-Shirt Puts a Hole in Your Belly
Ben Heck, expert modder and webshow host, is at it again with his newest creation, the Real-Life Portal T-Shirt. By modifying the shirt with “a chest-mounted LCD screen and a back-mounted CCD camera,” Heck created a t-shirt which puts a hole through your belly, right where the cake would have been if it weren’t a lie. Ben shows off his Portal T-Shirt by showing off some of his previous mods, viewable through his midsection. Check out the video after the... Continue reading
The PS3 Slim Laptop, Take Two
Ben Heck is at it again with is newest creation, the Ps3 Slim Laptop, his second attempt at creating the perfect mobile PS3 Slim. This time around Heck decks the laptop out with blue accents, a 17? widescreen 720p HDMI display, a built-in cable storage department and built-in stereo speakers & headphone jack. Heck also added more air holes then the stock PS3 Slim for better airflow. I’m digging the blue and black color scheme and as usual, that awesome... Continue reading
Ben Heck’s Bill Paxton Pinball Machine is Finally Finished
After nearly four years of solid effort, nearly all of which is documented on his site, Ben Heck has finished his Bill Paxton Pinball machine. Based on the “endlessly quotable films of Bill Paxton,” the pinball machine was manufactured completely and utterly from scratch by the Heck-man himself, aside from a few stock items, such as the flippers. It is controlled by a single Parallax Propeller CPU which runs PCM audio music & voice clips as well as handling game... Continue reading
PS3 Wireless Visual Interface Brings the Screen to You
Since I haven’t been able to save up just yet for any super-comfy furniture, I always have to contort my body into the weirdest positions in order to both be comfortable and see the screen while I play my PS3. Someone walking in on me would think I was performing some sort of kinky solo Kama Sutra. This awesome PS3 Wireless Visual Interface, designed by Ben Heck protege and forum user techknott, would allow me to sit any which way... Continue reading
PS3 Slim Gets Smooshed Into A Laptop
The PS3 Slim was already beginning to feel a little chubby. Time takes a a toll on the body. Thankfully, we have Ben Heck to make everything more portable. His new PS3 Slim Laptop takes the improved hardware of the Slim and makes it even more mobile with his notebook-inspired mod.
One-Handed Xbox 360 Controller
Righties rejoice. Ben Heck has done it again with a brand new mod. This time around the Heck-ster created a one-handed Xbox 360 controller. The addition of a semi-intrusive joystick removes the need for the left side of the controller. An added mechanism on the rear of the controller manages the bumper action. While it’s not as pretty as some of his past creations, it gets the job done, leaving your left hand free for more important activities. Specifically while... Continue reading
Swapped Xbox 360 Controller Perfect for Lefties
What up south paws? Gaming controllers got you down? Lack the coordination in your right hand to successfully tap out the X Y B A buttons? Who decided to call it the “right” hand anyway. We say, it’s the WRONG hand. UNH! In yo face! Master modder Ben Heck busted out this awesome swapped Xbox 360 controller, a controller made for people who have a difficult time dealing with the default set-up. The controller also includes an added X Y... Continue reading
Ben Heck’s C64 Laptop
Dream for days of true retro-gaming on the go? Ben Heck has you covered. He’s put his master modder skills to good use this time around, creating a portable Commodore 64 laptop. Says Heck: This project somehow has the distinction of being both the longest and fastest portable electronics project I have ever done. I originally started making a C64 laptop in the fall of 2006, and kept pecking away at it every so often. Finally, a few weeks ago,... Continue reading
Super Nintoaster Makes SNES Games Om Nom Worthy
Shove your Super Nintendo games right into the toaster and prepare to smother them in butter and jam. The Super Nintoaster brings the pure unadulterated power of toast to the ancient Super Nintendo gaming system. And let’s be honest, this poor console is in dire need of a makeover. Basically what we’ve got here is a working SNES system packed neatly inside of a toaster, allowing the user to shove the Nintendo games in the bread slots as if they... Continue reading
When Miller Meets PC
Ben Heck, master modder of all things electronic, has taken a whole new route in his latest PC case mod. It seems Ben was kicking back a few brews of crisp, cold Miller Genuine Draft beer. So crisp, that Ben drank the whole thing, got completely drunk and configured the empty cardboard box to house a PC, CD-ROM drive and all. WILD SHIT! Read up on his official blog to find out how Ben did it and how he managed... Continue reading
