With the iPhone 3.0 OS officially dropping today (though some of us have had ours for a week and have since hacked it for tethering!), MLB.com is pulling all punches with its new iPhone App, At Bat. While the app itself isn’t new, the 3.0 update will give owners the chance to stream live baseball games at no additional cost. The first game to be streamed will be tomorrows Sox vs Cubs matchup at 2:20pm. For $10, you seriously can’t beat this deal.

High Tech: Yankee Stadium

While I’m not a Yankees fan, one can’t deny the popularity and rich history of one of the most famous baseball teams ever. Their new stadium is still being completed in time for the 2009 season that starts next month and it’s shaping up to be quite the experience. Shown above is the 103-by-58-foot 1080p display that will show fans replays, home runs and a whole lot of advertisements. It has features like picture-in-picture and can show four different video sources at a time.

Additionally, the new Yankee Stadium will feature a stadium-wide LED ribbon created by Daktroniks. It will display game info and light up like a wild rock concert when need be. And did I mention the 550 Sony BRAVIAs scattered around? It’s going to be a good year for baseball fans in New York.

Floodlamp: Shea Stadium Carries On In Your Living Room

Whether you love football, baseball or even soccer, you’re almost guaranteed to see a series of floodlights keeping your game lit up throughout the night. The bright spectacle of light beaming down upon your favorite players can be mesmerizing. Why not take that feeling home with the Floodlamp? It takes six bulbs and will most likely cause a small fire in your house, but hey, it’s related to sports! It runs about $125, not including fire insurance.

Philadelphia Phillies Win 2008 World Series

Although I now live in New York, I originally grew up with Ryan in South New Jersey, right outside of Philadelphia. This makes us huge Philadelphia Phillies fans (albeit I’m a Giants fan come football season) and after last night’s World Series game, we’re happy Philadelphia fans. The Philadelphia Phillies have finally broken the curse of William Penn and have paved the way for the Flyers and Eagles to win championships. No one cares about the 76ers, so no matter there. There will be a huge ticker tape parade down Broad Street come Friday, so if you’re anywhere near Philly, make sure you stop by and party for us.

If you’re a fan of baseball, you couldn’t have asked for a better World Series in 2008. Go Phils!

Get ‘em While They’re Hot!

If you go to Mets games frequently enough (season tickets, weekly plan, etc.), then you’ll be happy to know you’re entitled to purchase an authentic set of seats from Shea Stadium. It’s an exciting opportunity that will cost you $869 for a pair of seats but worth much more to the true baseball fan. Green, red, blue and orange seating will be available as of today. If you don’t catch the Mets frequently but still want to plunk down your hard-earned cash for some seats, don’t fret: August 25th at 9 AM is when you get your shot. Too expensive? Skip the seats and settle for shoes.

All proceeds will go to the Mets Foundation, a charity that funds and promotes “a variety of charitable causes, including educational, social and athletic programs for young people in the community.”

New York Stadium Reebok Pump Series

Reebok and the MLB have teamed up to create a limited edition set of shoes that will have any true New Yorker screaming “Gimme those fuckin’ shoes, jerkoff!”

The two shoes available feature either Yankee Stadium or Shea Stadium coloring and artwork. Only 150 pairs of each shoe will be produced, with the number printed on the inside of the shoe. You can pump it up like it’s 1992 with Reebok’s proprietary Pump gimmick or just rock them with your stylin’ outfit. Check out the back of each shoe after the jump. It features a picture of the respective stadium and a set of dates. It’s a bittersweet tribute to the two legendary stadiums NYC will be losing this year.

Available at five special boutiques around NYC. Get ‘em while they’re hot!

Baseball Team No One Watches To Get Touchscreens In Stadium

The Oakland A’s. A team no one really cares about, just like the post-Bo Jackson Raiders. However, that’s not going to stop the developer of Cisco Field, the A’s new baseball stadium in construction, from hooking up fans. Cisco is looking to add interactive wireless touchscreens to each seat in the stadium. You could look up player stats, game stats, order a hot dog, request a beer, complain about a heckling fan and so much more.

Now all the A’s need is talent.
