Stupid Earring Headphones

Japanese company Thanko just came out with a new set of headphones that clip to the bottom of wearers’ earlobes like earrings. Thanko’s headphones seem to be the exact opposite of noise cancelling and, frankly, they look pretty darn stupid. If they were wireless, these things really would lbe like earrings, but as is, they just look like standard headphones that fit funny.

I guess Thanko is hoping that women have been looking for a new style of headphones. I can’t imagine that there are girls who think this would look good or that there are people who want to sacrifice sound quality to look like a total d-bag. On the other hand, Thanko did make a pair of these that are decorated with a cute cartoon panda. People love cute animals, so maybe these stupid headphones will manage to be a hit.

Awesome Steampunk Headphones Don’t Actually Work

Here at Gearfuse, we love seeing all the cool Steampunk twists people put on regular products. Sadly, this awesome set of Steampunk headphones that you see pictured above is actually just a non-functional model.

A guy from Chicago who calls himself Nicrosin made this “Mechanical Aural Communication Device” as a prop with “sculpey, rubber, and… various pocket watch parts,” the earpieces have a suede lining. Real Steampunk headphones that look like the inside of a watch would be awesome. Hopefully, someone will take a cue from Nicrosin’s idea and make a working version of these.

Boombox Nostalgia Porn

High-tech music players are alright, but they’re not nearly as cool as vintage ghetto blasters. Old-school boomboxes were made for sound as well as stylin’ and profilin’. An iPod may be able to hold thousands of songs, but you’ll look like an idiot trying to roll around carrying one on your shoulder. To celebrate the beauty of the vintage boombox, photographer Lyle Owerko made the Boombox Project, a collection of photos of 80’s and 90’s radios. After the jump, check out some of the highlights from Owerko’s portfolio.

Audiophile Equipment For Extremists

Kevin Brooks is not your average audiophile. The sight of your $20 budget speakers from Wal-Mart might spurt him into a diatribe about the necessity of African Mohagony horns. Brooks has been developing his home audio system for quite some time, and it’s evident you don’t want to trifle him with anything but the best.

Brooks offers a line of custom solid African Mahogany horns. Though this isn’t the end of it. The image above showcases bass horns that actually extend from outside of your home, so every bass scratch and tick can be felt as if it were an atom bomb. Every piece he offers is custom made for audio perfection. And the price will no doubt be just as out of this world. — Andrew Dobrow
