Super Mario Anatomy Sculpture
Video game characters are people too. Well, most of the time. With all of the blustering and bowing we’ve come to expect from ourselves when we talk about our favorite gaming character of all time, we sometimes forget the humanity of these characters. The flesh and blood. Salvaged from one of his hundreds of million lost lives, this Super Mario Anatomy Sculpture by Jason Freeny advertises the heart (quite literally) and soul of Mario, the human being. The lovable, heroic,... Continue reading
The Anatomy of Typography
“Letters are organisms and typefaces are the species, all classified similar to biological taxonomy.” Thus is the concept behind Andreas Scheiger’s Evolution of Type, an anatomical study of the alphabet. For the first time in medical and typographical history, fonts go under the knife for a full biological analysis. I’m very concerned whether these letters were volunteers or part of some sort of font trafficking ring. I hope for the designer’s sake that this is an example of the former.... Continue reading
So, The Current Pac-Man is an Impostor?
Most of you won’t know this, as up until now it was privy knowledge to only a few lucky souls. The man we have come to know and love as Pac-Man is not the character we thought he was. Back in 1982, as the original Pac-Man was living the rock star lifestyle courtesy of his new found fame, there was an accident. The exact circumstances are hazy but the story involves two very drunk ghosts and one very dead Pac-Man.... Continue reading
Muppet Anatomy: Kermit the Frog Gets an X-Ray
Kermit the Frog was injured in a tragic domestic incident. It’s not hard to get hurt when you share a bed with a pig. One faulty roll and all of a sudden you’re suffocating. Anyway, here are the official x-rays released from his most recent injury. Doctors were looking for a broken wrist. Luckily the x-rays were negative. Link [via]
Gummi Bear Surgeries: Nom Nom Experimentation
There appears to be a budding Dr. Mengele in the house, though this time Gummi Bears are the victims of the heinous experimentation. The lengths at which some people are willing to go in the name of science is sickening. All these poor, innocent Gummi Bears were looking for was to be sent quietly through your digestive system. And this is how you treat them? But you know what they say, with great responsibility comes great sacrifice. These gummis are... Continue reading
A Mouse You Can Make Love To: The G Point Mouse Looks Like The Female Naughty Place
As far as anatomical models go, you don’t see many vagina-themed objects. Sure, you’ve got your male sex toys and your science class anatomically correct scale model, but where are all the vagina-inspired goodies. The ratio between penis and vagina-themed gadgets is unsettling at best and terrifying at worst. I guess vagina’s just aren’t as funny as a huge shaft? Anyway, the G Point Mouse pretty much just looks like a vagina, with the scroll ball and the quick access... Continue reading
A Lesson in Pokemon Anatomy
Meet Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur is a Pokemon. Despite their fictional existence, even these pocket creatures must have some form of anatomy, you’d figure, amirite? To answer your question, yes, Bulbasaur does in fact have internal organs, it’s just that part of them are actually just an assortment of vines and seeds. Hence the name ‘Bulb’asaur. Not too mention thick, strong bones. NO! NO! Don’t even go there. Not that bone! EVERYONE knows that Bulbasaur is hung like a weasel. Head over... Continue reading
EyePod: The Anatomical Steampunk Cousin of the iPod
Something tells me the EyePod is the black sheep of the family. Created by the self-appointed “Dr Grymm,” the EyePod is actually a mod of an iPod Nano, so believe it or not, buried somewhere deep in that monstrosity, is a functioning portable media device. A custom mod of an Apple iPod Nano 1st Gen. The design is inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. The “eye-Pod” can be worn on the wrist via the leather cuff, or placed on it’s custom... Exploded: The Anatomy of Everyday Objects
Adam Vorhees really loved biology class. When the day came around to dissect frogs, he was ready to jump out of his skin with excitement. So what if he’s a little creepy? Anatomy can be fascinating. Even for objects of the non-living variety. Vorhees’s Exploded photo set illustrates the anatomy of some everyday objects with intriguing results.
Horse Used As Live Anatomical Model
Gillian Higgins offers Equine Lecture Demonstrations, helping to educate the world on proper equine care, a skill that every human should undoubtedly master. Tired of relying on simple text and images, Higgins decided to use a real horse as a live anatomical model. One side of the horse showcases the skeletal structure, the other side displays the muscle. It takes four hours to apply the paint to a horse for their little anatomical show. Ok… which part is edible? Om... Continue reading
