Electronic Rock Guitar T-Shirt is Actually Playable

electronic_rock_guitar_shirt_anim1

This t-shirt has a completely playable guitar built right in, including a mini-amp which you can strap to your belt. Strum by waving the included magnetic pick over the frets. The volume knob actually goes up to 11 for that little something extra and the tone knob actually works.

All the major chords are included so you can totally jam with other players, maybe bust out a little blues riff. Hit the jump for a video demo.

Coffee Cups Are The New Black

Earlier, Ryan spotted some DIY speakers made from paper cups and a pair of headphones. Now Arms22 is one-upping designer Dimitry Zagga with speakers made from Starbucks cups. They actually use a power amplifier, meaning they’ll crank your tunes out at a respectable volume. If you want to make your own, go for it, as the instructions are available online. The caveat? They’re in Japanese.

MagSafe-esque Solution For Your Guitar

No longer will your guitar have to suffer an early demise at the hands of a clumsy stage crew member tripping over your amp cords. Coming in September, Belkin is offering a new power connector for your guitar and amp that borrows the magnetic damage protection of Apple’s MagSafe adapter for your electric guitar.

It works with standard quarter-inch plugs and promises no audio quality issues. So it’s a safe bet that rocking hard won’t have you flinging your guitar from your hand because you tried to dance around your wires while playing. For $20, the worse that’s going to happen if someone does trip over your chords is the disconnection between your guitar and your amp, break-free. This will bring great relief to the audience, who thought that your music sounded nothing short of a guitar being thrown on the sidewalk and stepped upon in repetition.

Headphone Amp Inside a CD-ROM Drive

Here’s a nice mod that seems relatively easy to pull off. It’s a headphone amp inside an old CD-ROM drive and it even uses the drive’s headphones jack. Creator Gio Militano provides detailed instructions if you’re itching to build your own. Just make sure you’ve got a pair of proper cans to go along with it. If you don’t, make a pair.

As much as we hate to encourage the poser mentality, owning something like the Fender Wallet would totally add to the rocker uniform which you’ve spent so long perfecting.

Talent Show Kit Provides More Fuel For Family Snorefest

talentshow.jpg

Family night in my home usually meant a pizza dinner and a board game, but I’m sure other families would have more extravagant festivities, which possibly included nudity and chanting to Satan. While my family was never much for rituals, it would have been nice to have something like the Talent Show Kit.

It’s a karaoke machine, a mic, and an amplifier all built into one mic stand-esque gadget. A removable mic allows the performer some roaming space as they croon to the moon like a werewolf. Or at least that’s what it probably sounds like. Just hand them a fake and cheer when they stop moving. They’ll never know the difference. Get yours for $80. — Andrew Dobrow

VoomPC-2 brings a fully functional PC into your dashboard

voompc-2

What’s not to love about super small form factor computers? The VoomPC-2 delivers the price that many other small form factor PCs havn’t been able to do yet. Unfortunately, it has to skimp on the features to do so. Luckly, they aren’t trying to sell this product for home media center usage. Their target market is the mid/high end car user who wants more tech up in the dash. Besides using up less power than a parking light, the VoomPC-2 has a complete power management system that protects it from power surges. If you already have that great sound system in you car with that sweet looking amp in your trunk, why not give it a companion that looks like an amp but does so much more? Prices start at $395 for barebone with few components and touch screens are sold separately for around $400. — Nik Gomez

Toaster Guitar Amp: Rock ‘em til they’re burnt

toaster amp

We don’t know how the idea of turning toasters into guitar amps happened to spring to life, and we’re not sure if we want to know, but the result is one unique design for a rockers gear collection. Built on a simple foundation of a input/output jack, a 9 volt battery, and a small speaker, the Toaster Amp is a razzle-dazzle mini-amplifier fit for fans of They Might Be Giants and any band looking for that “new-wave” type of thing. For $149, you can enjoy some “warm and toasty” guitar tone while enjoying your breakfast cereal. Warning: We don’t suggest trying to use the toaster amp to toast anything other then the souls of your audience. — Andrew Dobrow
