Throw Out Your CDs: Amazon Is The Way To Go

Music can be really costly these days, especially if you’re the one guy caught leaking the Guns N’ Roses album on to the net.  Even music stores mark up prices on both uses and new CDs at an outrageous rate. It almost seems like everyone is out to get anyone who loves listening to music.

Well, Amazon wants you to know that it’s not out to get you with overpriced music from classic artists.  I mean afterall, you’ve probably heard most of the songs on a CD you’re willing to buy, anyway. Amazon wants to hook up all those in the KISS Army by letting the Greatest Kiss album go for just $1.99. That’s like 12 cents a song! This album has all the hits, too! Deuce, Strutter, Detroit Rock City and more! It seems like all it’s really missing is Love Gun. This deal will be going on the whole weekend through Monday. If you’re a KISS fan that doesn’t already have this album, don’t miss out.

China Welcomes Back iTunes

After that questionable business China pulled by blocking access to iTunes (due to a pro-Tibet album), their Great Firewall engineers discovered that they’re able to selectively block specific albums from users. That’s right, iTunes is now available in China…again.

COMING THIS SUMMER…

CHINA: PART 2

Say bye-bye to pro-Tibet albums and anything not communist and say hello to a strong friendship with Apple. Does China do this just for publicity or are they really just Mao Zedong worshiping commie nut jobs?

China Blocks iTunes For Selling Pro-Tibet Songs

China hates Tibet. No, China really hates Tibet. That’s why when some 40 Olympic athletes downloaded a pro-Tibet album three days before the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, China got pissed off and blocked iTunes behind it’s great firewall. Was it because the album featured 20 songs from artists including Sting, Moby, Damien Rice and Alanis Morissette? Well, sort of. The US-based International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) pretty much advertised it’s free album, Songs for Tibet, to all the athletes at the Olympics.  They also encouraged people to listen to them during the games and, while they meant well, China took an aggressive notice.

“Certainly, we did intend the downloads to be a subtle form of protest for the athletes, as well as an act of solidarity for the Tibetan people.”

And that is why China no longer likes you. Apple will be lucky if China gives it the opportunity to open up more shops in their country after this deceitful act.  Personally, I think China needs to get the sand out of their vagina. Then again, this China-Tibet feud has been going on for so long, it’s way over my head.

The 49 Cent Album

I think my mom is into The Replacements but no matter. When an album costs 49 cents, you and every bum in Manhattan can afford a copy. No excuses. Paul Westerberg, frontman for the band, decided to release his latest album this way. He originally wanted to do it for 44 cents but Amazon wouldn’t let him (they’re the only retailer carrying it currently). The music on the CD has been described as “freewheeling, choppy, (and) chaotic.”

If you’re really cheap and still can’t afford the 49 cents (you bastard) or you’re not into Paul Westerberg, you can always listen to WHYY free of charge!
