Samsung whips it out with X830

samsung x830

Samsung’s new X830 cell phone has a look not shared with many phone on the market today; it has a switchblade-like design, which might not be the best design in the current times. You might pull out this phone, flip/slide it open, and some woman will pepper spray you in the face thinking you have a switchblade. The X830 is a very media-oriented phone, with 1GB of memory and a 1.3 megapixel camera. It has an click-wheel interface which is very similar to, you guessed it, a Zune. The features on the X830 don’t stand out too much compared to other new phones, but Samsung is hoping to hook people with the design. However, with a $419 price tag, it’ll probably be hard to hook anyone with the design unless they like being hassled for possessing a concealed weapon. The X830 by Samsung doesn’t make the cut (get it, switchblade—cut? Haha so funny) with average features and an apple-like price tag. — Nick Rice

LG jumps on laptop bandwagon with X-Note Z1

lg x-note z1

The brand spanking new X-Note Z1 laptop is being produced not by a popular brand such as Dell or Sony, but rather LG. with a 12.1 inch screen and a 1280×765 resolution, LG was trying to pack as much as possible into as small a space as possible. LG packed this puppy with a Core 2 Duo T5600, which isn’t the top of the line for processors, but it’s still nice for an LG computer. Play all your high tech video games like “Dora goes to Africaâ€? or whatever you play with an ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 video card. Included in the X-Note is 100 GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM, which is perfect for a majority of us. A nice aspect of this laptop is that it only weighs 4.16lbs, which, with its small size, means it will be a great travel companion. At about $2000, it’s a little much for what you get with this; you can get a Dell with about the same specs for about $1000 less. But hey, if you like those Korean-made products, then LG’s X-Note Z1 is perfect for you. — Nick Rice
