Thanko Silent Keyboard keeps down the noise

silkey.jpg

Odds are, at some point in your life, you have come across someone who was an overly loud typer. These same people are usually the ones who scream when they talk as well. Damn attention hogs. Thanko’s Silent Keyboard uses silicone spring and anti-resonance technology to produce a virtually silent keyboard.

Thanko claims that their peripheral is 5 times quieter than a whisper, which translates to mean this thing is barely audible. Something like this is good for people living in small quarters. With the Silent Keyboard there is nothing to hold your typing back. Available for the very affordable $33. — Andrew Dobrow

  1. I am a loud typer, but I do not shout when I talk and I really do not care about attention, though I agree that shouting people really do care about attention. I type loud because I was used to do so with keyboards of the 80’s and because when you’ve finished to write your lines of code, there is nothing like hitting with all your strength the enter key to run it. It is a way to handle the following stress given by the “syntax error” message ….;-)

  2. I’ve been told that I am a very loud typer and that it’s very distracting to those around me. Where can I purchase this Thanko Silent Keyboard? I’ve looked all over yahoo and google, and it doesn’t tell me where it can be purchased from. Audiocubes.com was recommended, but they don’t have it on their website.
    Thanks.

  3. @Kim:

Thanks for the question. According to this link: http://www.dynamism.com/silent-keyboard/pricing.shtml, the product has been discontinued. Though maybe you can patrol eBay? Maybe something will pop-up. Good Luck!
