Sam Raimi to Direct World of Warcraft Movie

wow-movie

Director of Spider-Man, Drag Me to Hell and Evil Dead, Sam Raimi, will be directing an upcoming live-action film adaptation of the World of Warcraft, tentatively titled “Warcraft.” Raimi said, of the game: “At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story.” And so it goes.

Can Raimi make Warcraft an exception of the usual game-based film flops? He’s got a great canvas to work with and the potential for tons of sequels. The lore of Warcraft runs deep.

  1. It’s a movie based on a video game. How can it not suck?

Elves with ridiculously long, pointy ears, etc… If done with a sufficiently large (read: epic, enormous, biggest ever) budget, AND with very talented actors (not those random young new folks who seem to make it into fantasy movies) AND with an epic plot, with well written and non-cheesy dialog, it might work out.

I think they’d be better off buying lottery tickets, better odds.

    I expect absolute garbage.

  2. I’ve always been intrigued by the WoW lore. No other game has really done that for me. In fact, I can’t think of a game that has their lore run so deep. If it’s done right, with a focus on story and action, it could be amazing.
