Facebook Responding to Porn, Violent Images Appearing on News Feeds

If you’ve been on Facebook in the past few days, you might have noticed some… less-than-appropriate images on the top of your news feed.

The ‘New” Facebook format allows you to see what your friends are posting and commenting on. In some cases, it might show you a photo that your friend simply clicked on to view.

Well, a barrage of pornographic, disturbing and violent images have begun appearing for many users. Facebook is currently addressing this issue, and says that they’re responding to user-flagged content.

Andrew Noyes, a spokesperson for Facebook, has issued a statement about these images:

Protecting the people who use Facebook from spam and malicious content is a top priority for us and we are always working to improve our systems to isolate and remove material that violates our terms. We have recently experienced an increase in reports and we are investigating and addressing the issue.”

Among the photos is a disturbing image of an abused dog, photoshopped pornographic images of Justin Bieber, and at least one naked grandma.
