The image of a tricycle is traditionally not one that strikes fear in the eyes of onlookers. Quite the contrary. Tricycles seem to be a bully magnet. While the E-Trike might result in envious thievery, I sincerely doubt anyone would be willing to mess with you face-to-face if you parked this in your garage. Though despite its hard looks, Josh Hadar’s E-Trike has a heart of gold.
Powered by a 750-watt array of six solar panels mounted on Hadar’s roof, along with a Mars Electric motor, tweaked via an Altrax programmable controller, the E-Trike has 6.4 horsepower, with a 20-inch front wheel and 26-inch rear-wheels. Four 12-volt lead-acid batteries give the trike a range of 30 miles. It might not sound like much, but remember, it’s a damn tricycle.
