Austin, Texas is one of the most well-known cities on earth for arts and culture. Recent years have seen many young professionals head to the capital of Texas to jump start their creativity and soak in the local culture. Whether you plan on making the move the Austin, or are just visiting for a weekend, there a lot of options available to ensure that you get the full Austin experience.

Chances are when you hear Austin you think of South by Southwest Fest. The fest started with humble beginnings, when some 700 people were in attendance for the first edition of the festival in 1987. From there, SXSW has grown every year, both in size and scope, to become one of the world’s premier film, music and interactive media festivals. SXSW brings thousands of creatives to the city each March while bringing in millions of dollars to the Austin economy.

Staying with music, the Austin City Limits Festival has quickly jumped to the top of of many “Best Festivals” lists. Unlike SXSW, Austin City Limits caters exclusively to the music lovers, bringing in the biggest acts in alternative, hip hop and EDM. Fans get two full weekends of music each fall, with many bands playing Austin venues in the week between festival dates.

Finally, no trip to Austin would be complete without mentioning the food. BOOMERANG’S PIES on the University of Texas campus provides visitors with authentic Australian meat pies. Opened in 2006, BOOMERANG’S makes each pie from scratch, giving everyone that comes in a taste of the Outback, ensuring that they will come back for more.
