Zombs.io

Are all zombie games the same? After playing Zombs.io, the answer is an unequivocal no. Zombs.io offers an amalgam of strategy and RPG action. Even further, it’s all wrapped in a modern multiplayer bundle. Zombs.io lets players compete against each other and join forces, all while fighting against AI zombies. What more can we ask for?

Build. Defend. Survive.
The tagline of Zombs.io says it all. This game is about building defenses and surviving the zombie apocalypse. Aside from fending off undead enemies, the premise here is similar to games like Boom Beach and Clash of Clans. The majority of playtime in Zombs.io involves harvesting resources from nearby trees and rocks. Healthy trees provide wood, which is required when building any structure. Rocks provide stone, which is needed in all defense towers and gold mines.

There are four types of towers that hunt zombies automatically: arrow, cannon, bomb, and mage. Each tower has unique strengths and weaknesses. Arrow towers sling ammo quickly, but they only strike one target at a time. Cannon and bomb towers can eliminate multiple enemies at once, but they deal damage much slower than arrows and mages.

Like every addictive multiplayer game, leveling up is a big part of Zombs.io. The currency is gold, and it allows players to upgrade buildings, weapons, and armor. The more gold you harvest, the better your chances of survival. This is because Tier 2 weapons inflict far more damage than Tier 1. Advanced spears, bows, and bombs eliminate more enemies faster, due to increased attack speed and damage. Perhaps even more importantly, higher-tier pickaxes are better at harvesting resources. This exponentially increases the potential of staying alive. More wood and stone allow players to build and upgrade additional gold mines. More mines result in more gold, which lets players level up further. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy of survival.

Night Terrors
The green monsters only come at nightfall. Thus, each “round” consists of daytime and nighttime. During the day, players harvest resources and build defenses. At night, they fight. This consistent division of gameplay makes Zombs.io different than many of its peers. There is no need to cautiously harvest while worrying about unpredictable attacks. Instead, players can spend all day building defenses and planning for the upcoming evening, when zombies will approach like clockwork. During the day, the main concern is building enough walls and towers to sustain another night of terror. Enough preparation in sunlight is a surefire way to survive the darkness.

New, New, New
Many game-changing features have arrived since the original beta release of Zombs.io. One of the most important is C.A.R.L., your personal pet. C.A.R.L. is an evolvable sidekick that will follow you around the map. He’s invaluable during hard times, selflessly fighting zombies alongside you. A couple of other key enhancements are monsters and boss waves. These evil beings exist to make your day more difficult. Conquer them, and you can evolve C.A.R.L. to become even more powerful. With so many new features in development, Zombs.io could be your next multiplayer addiction.
