Valve is notorious for providing support to the gaming community in the form of… well, free stuff. Just recently, Valve made popular shooter Team Fortress 2 free-to-play. Now, in another gesture of appreciation to their fans, Valve is now making the Source SDK free as well.
If you’ve been living in a cave and don’t know what the Source SDK is, it’s basically a complete package of the tools you need to make your own games (or mods) with the Source engine. All that’s missing is a bit of creativity.
Before, gamers had to purchase a game that used the Source engine in order to gain access to the Source SDK. Now, however, that may no longer be the case.
It’ll be interesting to see the creative stuff that budding game enthusiasts come up with now that the Source SDK is free.
