		<description>Jack is correct. They didn&#039;t &quot;force&quot; them to mate, but merely allowed them to do it by bringing them together. The two turtles did mate, but none of the eggs hatched (probably due to that calcium deficiency).

They tried again this year after changing the female turtle&#039;s diet to be more calcium-rich, and apparently they mated again, but I haven&#039;t been able to find out if it was successful this year or not.

So here&#039;s hoping.</description>
