Why We’re Still Playing: Injustice Gods Among Us

It was released the second week in April but more than a month later we are still playing Injustice Gods Among Us. Why you ask? Because NetherRealm Studios (yes, the same people who brought you Mortal Kombat,) has blurred the lines between good and evil with our favorite DC superheros…and villains.

The Line Up

Take Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy,  Nightwing, Green Arrow, The Joker, Superman, Cyborg, Deathstroke, Bane, Lex Luthor, Catwoman, The Green Lantern, Sinestro, Hawkgirl, Shazam!, Aquaman, Raven, Doomsday and Black Adam and it makes for one hell of a lineup. Okay…so we could probably do without Aquaman…

Gameplay

Number of Online Players: Online multiplayer 1 – 8
Number of Players: Offline players 1 – 4

What We Think

There will be some who will tell you that this game lacks a little something. While this can certainly be said for the fluidity of character movement, if you are a fan of fighting games and a super hero nerd, you will still find this game worth the money (even more so if you’re old enough to remember the days of Mortal Kombat in its prime.) There are 13 levels to keep you busy and plenty of characters to bring a twisted tale of a decimated city of Metropolis to life. In addition there are plenty of mini games and character specific missions – although these take a sharp detour from the smooth story line of the main game.

Speaking of the storyline of the main game, if you’re a hardcore DC fan, you won’t be disappointed with how this one sticks with DC Universe lore. Plus if you’re Batman freaks like us (you will find PLENTY of Bats in this one!) then you’ll love the Easter eggs in Arkham Asylum. Keep an eye out for Killer Croc, the Penguin, Two-Face, the Riddler and the Scarecrow.
