The formidable low-pressure system drags its cloudy skirts off of the US eastern seaboard, leaving a scuff of snow visible from the Carolinas through Chesapeake Bay and into New England. This image was captured by one of four Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites that monitors global weather for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, operated by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
