Civilized humankind existed for thousands of years without electric lights.

Also, how do you explain away the fact that some of Edison's prototypes still work today, and at comparable wattage to todays standard bulbs?

The first post is closer to the mark than some of you are willing to accept. Except the dumb part.

It's burning at 4 watts folks. Wouldn't even light up a car's glovebox. With a thick filament we could create a bulb that would last as long, but why? The cool thing about this one is that it was built so long ago and just keeps chugging.

Folks, it's a feel good story about impossible odds. Call it "the little light bulb that could." Now calm down.

Americans aren't the dumbest, they're just the greediest.

"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms, greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind."

Americans are the dumbest people on the planet. First of all...how is it..that you can have a-light-bulb that glows-burns for 107 years..and nobody wants to ask the question: WHY DON'T THE NEW LIGHT BULBS ..BURN AS LONG.

Why...because the manafacturer..does not want it to burn that long...how else would he make money. This concept of..."let's make a "new one"...started back in the early 60's...and now it has gotten out of control....if it is made in America......www.radiodiary.com
