The Only Way George Lucas Can Stop Gaining Weight
The Japanese aren’t the only ones who are Star Wars crazy. The fans know the difference between an actual Millennium Falcon and one made out of batter. Japan held a Star Wars celebration for fans of the epic sci-fi saga to come show off their designs and art related to Star Wars, like that AT-AT from the streets. Bonnie Burton of the Official StarWars.com Blog uploaded these pictures on Flickr showing George Lucas frozen in carbonite just like the unfortunate... Continue reading
Lucas Ruins Star Wars Sweet Cakes With Special Effects
There are few things we love more in this world than Star Wars. But, if we were forced to choose one, it’d have to be baked sweets. So, instead of finding something greater than Star Wars, why not get the best of both worlds? Star Wars-themed baked sweets, such as these highly-detailed Yoda and Millennium Falcon cakes, are about as delicious looking as baked goods can get. With the wisdom of Yoda and the speed of the Millennium Falcon, don’t... Continue reading
A Different Kind Of Trek
For those looking to ride where no man has ridden before, take a look at this U.S.S. Enterprise-inspired bike. Photographer Alan Light took this shot at the 1982 San Diego Comic Con and while it may not be fresh it certainly is fresh looking. Check out how huge that horn is! I bet it can blast the opening theme of Star Trek so loud that Geordi La Forge would be able to see the sound waves. It just goes to... Continue reading
Tie-Fighter Display Looks Just Like Death Star Schematic Hologram
Holographic images are no longer exclusive to science fiction films thanks to the ICT Graphics Lab at USC. Three-Dimensional displays have proven to be quite difficult to emulate, suffering from problems such as small viewing areas and high costs. Using spinning mirrors, high-speed DLP projections and very precise mathematics, the crew at USC are able to display nearly 5,000 individual images reflected every second which come together to create a real-space three-dimensional object. In this case, they’ve displayed a Star... Continue reading
The Coolest LEGO Set Yet
This new LEGO Star Wars toy is the Castle Grayskull of all LEGOs. Fuck Fort Legorado, this LEGO Death Star is twice as much money ($400) and twice as cool. It comes with 25 Star Wars characters LEGO-style, including the “TK-421! Why aren’t you at your post?” Stormtrooper clad Han and Luke. It even has the trash compactor monster that nearly killed Luke in Episode IV. You won’t find a better way to relive your childhood by reenacting the final... Continue reading
AT-AT From The Streets (Word)
If you were born and raised in West Philadelphia, like the Fresh Prince (not of the Purple Rain variety), then you know the important significance graffiti has on people. Well, so does Christie’s auction house; they’ve decided to let it go for an estimated $1,500 – $2,000. I don’t know what makes it more appealing: the fact that it’s a Hasbro Star Wars toy or the fact that it was sprayed with graffiti in 2002 like the side of some... Continue reading
Star Wars Music Played On A Floppy Drive
If you like playing music with useless hardware and you’ve got no time to go to the Tashi station to pick up some power converters, then check this YouTube video out. Some geek hacked his old 3.5-inch floppy disk drive to play the Star Wars “Imperial” tune. Unfortunately, no documentation was made to show you how to build one yourself, so you’ll just have to suffer. Hey, it beats being taken to the Dune Sea, cast into the pit of... Continue reading
