Sony Sountina Glass Speakers Double as a Bong
Sony’s latest prototype speaker, the Sountina, has finally arrived on store shelves. Besides its awkward shape and size, the main selling-point is the transparent organic glass tube which vibrates and expands sound to 360-degrees. In the guise of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s bong, this speaker has a larger price tag than any glass piece used for tobacco purposes only. If you can afford $10k for the single speaker, you’d know it’s the only speaker you’d ever need. After all, it generates sound... Continue reading
Sony Pictures To Simulcast Final ‘Rent’ Performance
I’d be lying if I said I never expressed interest in “Rent”, the rock musical that changed this and that and everything in between on Broadway. As you may or may not know, “Rent” is about to end its run on Broadway after 12 years. Sony Pictures is looking to cash in huge on the final performance, so it’s decided it will simulcast it to various movie theaters throughout the US. Exact dates for the screenings haven’t been set yet,... Continue reading
Considering Blu-Ray? Go with the Playstation 3
I’ve written many an opinion column on why the Playstation 3 is the best console out there. After HD DVD died, my argument was strengthened further. Ryan then put the nail in the coffin by confirming that the only BD Live-enabled player on the market right now is the PS3. A lot of talk has gone on revolving around the price of Blu-Ray players on the market. Some argue that prices have increased since HD DVD died out. Others state... Continue reading

The sky behind the castle will reflect the weather in their hometown,... Continue reading
DIY Mac Laptop AC Adaptor Extension
I love my Macs and I’m sure you feel the same if you own one. In fact, I’m writing this post on my Macbook right now! However, Apple has really fucked up the AC adaptor that comes with the laptops it manufactures. I’m not talking about Magsafe, ’cause that shit is great. I’m referring to the fact that if you want a cord longer than Scott Baio’s dick, you have to add on a bulky attachment. The cord is so... Continue reading

As you sit and look through your old photos, your bound to come across a few that make you debate whether you are a flagrant alcoholic. Where the hell was this picture taken and why are my balls taped to my ass? Sound familiar? Anybody? Well, then. The Sony GPS-CS1KA GPS allows for you to add in a location to your image, in addition to the usual time and date listed in the exif file. When you use the special... Continue reading
Sony CMOS Camera Made For Cars
Sony has developed a CMOS camera to be integrated into the Nissan “around view monitor”, which displays an overhead view of a vehicle with four cameras video system. The 23.4 × 23.4 × 21.7mm camera will offer 1.3 MP, 30 frame rate per second, with a 186.2° view in a horizontal direction and 147° in a vertical direction. We guess for keeping a REALLY close look on your car. So few CMOS cameras have been made for cars because of... Continue reading
Half Terabyte Holographic Disks: Bringing The CD Back?
Sony researchers have been working on 20 layered optical disks that can hold up to half a terabyte of data. Using holographic techniques, these disks could serve as external drives all their own, offering 500 GB of storage on a standard disk by 2010 (enough to back up most PCs.) While various companies have been working on similar methods, Sony’s version relies on shining light on both sides of the disk simultaneously, creating interference patterns on the disk being written... Sneak peek at SonyEricsson’s new UIQ interface
For those who are unhappy with the current UIQ user interface employed by SonyEricsson devices, here’s a little something to look forward to. Apparently the UI will have some serious facelift. Here’s a shot snapped from a presentation somewhere, somehow, by somebody. –Sam Chan
Sony Confirms $399 PS3 Coming to US, Outsources Chipmaking to Toshiba
It was only a matter of time before Sony announced that the cheaper, stripped down European version of the PS3 would make its way to the States–and it appears that today was the day. Specifically, the official announcement revealed that a 40GB PS3 with half the USB ports, no multi-format card reader, and no backwards compatibility will be available in the US starting on November 2nd for $399. This will coincide with a price drop on the 80GB PS3 from... Continue reading
