Radiohead To Allow “In Rainbows” On iTunes?

up-radiohead.jpg

After all of the trouble Radiohead went through on their DRM-free “name your own price” online retail of their newest (and one of their greatest) album “In Rainbows”, we never expected the band to be in talks with Apple on releasing their album on iTunes. That is exactly what seems to be happening.

Radiohead’s current representatives, Courtyard Management, is reportedly in talks with Apple to bring “In Rainbows” to the iTunes Store. We’re not sure exactly how it would work, since Radiohead has maintained their albums be bought as a whole for artistic purposes, yet Apple sells most tracks under 10 minutes in length on a track-by-track basis. Apple refuses to make any comments on the availability of “In Rainbows”, which would be the first full album of the band available from iTunes. — Andrew Dobrow

Screw You iTunes: Radiohead offers DRM-free boxset

EMI and Radiohead are showing that you don’t need a powerhouse like iTunes to get yourself some attention. Always a band known to fight the power, Radiohead is planning on releasing a DRM-free boxset featuring all of their full length albums from 1993-2007, available for CD and digital download, as well as a special USB wave file edition, all of which are 320 bit CD quality.

While Radiohead still maintains that their music is best listened to on an album basis, these DRM-free sets are sure to put a light on each individual track in the long run. All of their long time fans alreay own all of these LP’s anyway. The boxset will be available on December 10. — Andrew Dobrow
