I’d like to share with you a bit of my childhood. After I bitched enough that SEGA Genesis wasn’t making the grade, my parents got me a Super Nintendo. A few years later, I would be in Babbages (remember those before GameStop bought ‘em out?) and spotted this Capcom Pad for the SNES for a mere $14.99. I bought it.

Apparently this controller is worth a little money nowadays if you have a sealed version. I don’t know why. It basically made it downright impossible to play some games. The only title I managed to sucessfully use it with happened to be F-Zero. Nonetheless, it still brings me back to the days of useless peripherals and 16-bit graphics.

While amateur photographers have long enjoyed the luxury of the WiFi-enabled Eye-Fi SD card, pros will be happy to know that there’s finally a solution available for them. For $150, you’ll cop a 4GB SD card that supports WiFi uploading, the ability to choose which pictures go where and RAW imaging support. Gizmodo reviewed it and says it’s great, so if you spent over $2000 on a digital camera, it may be worth a look.

I’ve been a fan of the Drobo since the original debuted a few years ago. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it’s an external hard drive enclosure that hooks up to your PC or Mac via USB. You plug hot-swappable drives in and take them out without any sort of repercussions thanks to Drobo’s intelligent software.

Before, Drobo held four drives. Today, it holds 8, allowing for a theoretical 64TB of storage. No one has that kind of money or data but for the rest of us, it means fail-safe storage space. Don’t expect to net the Drobo Pro for cheap, however. Empty, it runs $1300 and with 4TB of drives, it’ll set you back $1850. Yikes!

Goddamn would you look at the size of this thing. Two gigantic fans that look like they belong on the latest GeForce card and a battery that can be used to fend off potential attackers. iFixIt, a company that regularly goes inside brand new Macs to get a closer look at them, cracked open a brand-spankin’ new 17-inch unibody Macbook Pro. You know, the one you can’t remove the battery from.

Well apparently, you can remove the battery. It’s just going to require a lot of effort and void your warranty – as if you didn’t see that one coming. iFixIt says it’ll sell replacement batteries for the Macbook Pro, which is good to know considering Apple wants to charge you $180 to install and replace your old one.

Have a Macbook or Macbook Pro and an iPhone? Great. You’re officially the ultimate Apple fanboy. Now that that’s settled, let’s review Balmuda Software’s Numberkey Connect software. Install it on your Mac then shell out $1.99 for the iPhone app and you’re done. You have a nice-looking numeric keypad you can use in conjunction with your laptop. A savior for accounting students, I’m sure.

The new Macbooks are all the rave on the Internet. Even Vince and I can’t shut up about them. If you’re just as enthralled by all of this Mac-goodness as we are, then you’ll find the dismantling of the new Macbook Pro’s unibody by the crew of Ifixit.com to be very interesting.

They go through the process of taking apart the Macbook Pro while offering some insight on the new design and noting the differences when paired against the old design. It’s a great read and if you’re considering purchasing a new laptop, don’t overlook this analysis of one of the better options out there for your next notebook: the Macbook Pro.

In case you haven’t heard, Apple had a little event over in California today. All new updates to the Macbook, Macbook Pro and Macbook Air.

Highlights:

• New glass trackpads with multi-touch
• All new, specially engineered aluminum case design
• DVI ports become DisplayPort
• Macbook gets glass screen, aluminum case; Macbook Pro gets same upgrade
• Dual graphics in MBP – NVidia 9400M (Macbooks get these) and 9600 GT graphics for “turbo mode”
• New $899 24-inch display out. Features three USB ports and integrated mic, iSight, speakers
• Macbooks now cost $1299, Macbook Pro from $1999
• Macbook Air gets 9400 graphics, bigger hard drive with larger SSD available
• Old white Macbooks available for $999
• New gestures for sick new glass trackpad

That’s pretty much it. I suggest later tonight, you head over to Apple.com and play around with the configurations. These are very nice looking laptops and I’d love to get my hands on that new Macbook Pro.

Engadget has posted a photo that’s supposedly the new Macbook Pro that’s set to be unveiled today. As we can see, it sports a redesigned case, has a glass display and is blurry as hell. Since the event is in a few hours, we’ll take this with a grain of salt. Apple’s notebooks are really overdue for a redesign, though, so let’s see what Jobs has in store for us.

It can hold your thousands of dollars worth of equipment with ease, ensuring that you’re never going to have “issues” whilst raiding in World of Warcraft come the release of that new expansion pack.
