Beck Stern’s Femur Is Not An ’80s Horror Flick
Meet Becky Stern. She’s pretty handy with some felt and a hot glue gun. She also had to have surgery performed on her leg to remove cartilage. Her doctor drilled holes into her bone, which is painful to type let alone experience first-hand. What’s a girl to do while recovering from the painful ordeal? Make a plush model of your very own bones, that’s what. Becky recreated a scale model of her femur, complete with drill holes. Creepily creative! Link... Continue reading
Under The Sea: Crochet Coral Reef
For once, we’ve come across a product that is handmade and not featured on Etsy. This time, we have a coral reef that was painstakingly crocheted and set up on a table. Take a step back and squint hard enough. You might find that this coral reef looks pretty damn real from a distance. Amazing detail and true craftsmanship are what make this a lovely choice of design. This is the part where I crack a joke about a coral... Continue reading
A Pillow Worth Drooling On
I love sushi. Whether I’m eating it or sleeping on it, it’s all good. These ThinkGeek pillows modeled after popular Japanese cuisine run anywhere from $45 to $60 dollars and come in a variety of different styles/flavors. Tuna, salmon, shrimp, salmon roe and even edamame have all been turned into stylish plush pillows. I’ve gotten a hold of the salmon roll pillow because what kind of a Jew would I be on Hanukkah if I wasn’t sleeping on top of... Continue reading
You Can’t Do That On Television
Know why? Because this is a plush TV set. It’s simply gorgeous. Color test on the screen, white bezel – fantastic. No one knows who made it and no one will ever find out. That’s because Marc Summers has a grudge. A grudge against the world. Happy Friday. Link [via]
Twilight Turtle Plush Planetarium
Plush toys have never really gotten any more elaborate than any other stuffed animal. Sure, you could get a plush re-creation of your favorite Pokemon or go with the creative Food Chain Friends, but a plush toy is a plush toy. Nothing more, nothing less. Now, if you coupled your average plush toy with a home planetarium, that would make things more interesting. The Twilight Turtle is just that, a plush toy with a light projector that projects twinkling stars... Continue reading
Food Chain Friends Are Morbidly Cute
What if I told you, the overworked mother, I could teach your child about science and let them enjoy some quality playtime simultaneously? I’m sure you’d burst into tears and start thanking me but I can’t take credit for this. The Food Chain Friends are a cute series of stuffed animals that eat each other and do it quite well. Explain to your child the concept of Darwinism, all while using adorable plush creatures as the characters in your Shakespearean... Continue reading
Yoda Backpack helps for Star Wars role playing
When we were young lads, we weren’t like the other kids that wanted to be doctors and firemen. We idolized a man by the name of Luke Skywalker. We wanted to be him as he trained under Master Jedi teacher Yoda. In the depths of our hearts, there is still a place that wishes we could be good Luke. The Yoda Backpack allows us to further deepen our fantasies, while holding more than just an elderly scholar on our backs.... Continue reading
