No Windows 7 For You!
Waiting for an end to Vista? Don’t hold your breath. Microsoft will release Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista before it releases Windows 7 it’s been announced. Ugh. It feels like Bush being elected for a third term. Link
Microsoft Announces Windows 7
Up until now, Microsoft was peddling Windows Vista as it’s latest and greatest operating system. Sure, the company had briefly mentioned Windows 7 but it was just a codename and not much came out of it. Today, Microsoft is giving Windows 7 it’s official name and will be releasing developer betas soon. The official name of the next OS? Windows 7. Yup. Seems Microsoft was peachy with not changing the name since it’s the seventh Windows release. What do you... Continue reading
Motorola and Nokia Forming Big Android Teams
Nokia is tight but Motorola? I haven’t seen a desirable phone from you guys since the PEBL. Ouch! In all seriousness, both phone manufacturers are building up solid Google Android teams in house to help develop phones that will run the OS. Motorola is supposedly forming a huge 350 person team to solve the lack of Android-equipped phones the company offers. Of course, none of this matters since last week, T-Mobile and HTC announced the G1 Android phone. There’s not... Continue reading
Jerry Seinfeld And Microsoft Have Ended Their Short Partnership, For Now
If you were one of three people on the planet who enjoyed the Jerry Seinfeld ads from Microsoft, I’ve got some bad news: Microsoft is moving to “phase two” of its ad campaign. That means no more Jerry, no more churros and no more of Gates doing the robot. The next phase of Microsoft’s plan is to crack counter shots back at Apple by specifically targeting its ads which have propelled the Apple Windows feud in the first place. Bill... Continue reading
T-Mobile Android Coverage
Just a heads up that we’ll be covering the T-Mobile HTC Dream press conference in New York next Tuesday. We’ll have all the latest HTC/T-mo/Android information for you and if all goes well, possibly product shots or a video review. Stay tuned!
Time Killer: Windows Vista For Your Playstation 3
What happens when you put Windows Vista on a Playstation 3? Just an assload of down time, that’s what. This video shows some schmuck successfully running the OS under emulation and requiring nearly 25 minutes to fully boot up. It even takes twelve minutes to load up Notepad, which is an amazing feat considering how demanding the application is. This would be the equivalent of watching paint dry in Sony Playstation’s Home community. It’s even worse than Linux for the... Continue reading
Midori: Beyond Windows
I can’t imagine a world without Windows. It seems like only yesterday I was spending hours trying to figure how to change my desktop wallpaper on Windows 3.1. Word is that Microsoft is getting a head start on their next operating system that’ll replace Windows entirely. Their new project, Midori, centers around the Internet, casting out the dependency your operating system has on a single PC. XP might have been dead, but now Windows altogether is officially dead. Windows is... Continue reading
Windows XP Coming to OLPC XO
Rumor has it that everyone’s favorite OS is making its way to the OLPC XO this year. According to reports, testing is to begin in June to determine if Windows XP is a viable solution for XO laptops. If all goes well, you could be picking up an XO laptop by September. The existing OS, Sugar Linux, will not be wiped out of the picture anytime soon, much to Microsoft’s dismay. A dual-boot solution will be created and buyers will... Continue reading
Crazy Uncle Ballmer Admits Vista Is An “Incomplete Product”
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is one entertaining man. Both brutally unique and charismatic, something which he has recently shown is a certain level of humility. Ballmer has even gone as far as admitting that Vista is an “incomplete product”, while speaking at Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professionals event in Seattle yesterday. Ballmer claims that the Vista OS is still a “work in progress”, even though this has been a product that Microsoft has been pushing for more than a year now.... Continue reading
