Optimus Prime iPod Dock

optimus-prime-ipod-dock

Let me be straight up now, so I don’t drag you along for the ride. This iPod dock is a limited-edition gadget so it costs around $340. If you’ve got the dough, great, but I just thought you’d like to know before you read further and soil yourself in excitement.

With only 100 made, the Music Label – Exile “Perfect Year” Convoy iPod Docking Bay includes a set of built-in speakers and is compatible with every iPod size except for the Shuffle. The coolest part is that Optimus transforms from a iPod dock / trailer thingy into his robot form. Not too bad of a disguise if you ask me.

Optimus Prime Transforms Into USB Speakers

I knew Optimus could transform into some groovy vehicles and even become a peripheral or cool tool every once in a while, but I had no idea that he was in the home entertainment biz as well. The Optimus Prime USB Speaker Set is a three-pound faux Transformer robotic head, with a helme which folds out to be a pair of speakers.

Word on the street is that there will also be an Ultra Magnus version. But why bother when the Opt-man is available anyway? Now, I can’t guarantee an audiophile listening experience (in all honestly, the speakers look sorta shoddy), I can very well affirm that you’ll probably be the only guy on the block listening to J-pop through the ears of a geek culture icon.

Optimus Pultius: The Numpad Of Maximus Keyboards

Can’t afford an Optimus Maximus? Don’t feel bad, I can’t either. And anyone who can afford it didn’t get rich buying $1600 keyboards. Art Lebedev has announced a numpad-like keypad called the Optimus Pultius.

The keyboard comes packed with 15 OLED keys, an SD card slot and a USB hub. It’ll look great alongside the Maximus you don’t own or with any other keyboard. Come to think of it, if you try putting this keyboard next to any keyboard that isn’t a top dollar Maximus, it’ll just make that keyboard look even shittier. No price announcements as of yet, but look for it at the end of 2008 or early 2009.

Optimus Mini 3 can now connect to each other, so what?

optimus mini 3

We all know that it’s beginning to fall into the world of vaporware. It’s the list of products that never appear, the Gizmondo is such an item. The Optimus Keyboard. The supposed full OLED, full color keyboard that has recently been announced to cost around $1,200. If that is the true price, not only will the creators not make any money, but they will join the list with the Gizmondo.

The Optimus Mini 3 is the only real product out right now, and at about $160, not too many people are buying it. Optimus has announced a little feature improvement, the Mini 3 will be able to connect to another Mini 3 to make a sort of 3×2. So a total of 6 humongous keys that don’t do much of anything. Optimus needs to get their real product out on the market. — Nik Gomez
