Pimp My Pac: Pac-Man Pimps Out Yet Another Ride

pimp-pacman-car

There’s something about Pac-Man that draws car owners to paste him all over their vehicles. This car might not have the gullwing doors have the last Pac car we posted about, but what it does have is an additional dose of Packy flair.

Everything down to the rims is adorned with Pac-love, and I’m simply loving the custom leather upholstery. This is one retro gaming-mobile I would not be embarrassed to rock around my town.

People Lie When They Say They’ve LOL’d and Other Interesting Cellphone Stats

lol

UK phone retailer Right Mobile Phone conducted an interesting survey among their customers and got some intriguing results. According to their survey:

  • 71% say using their favorite song as their alarm clock, versus the system default or no alarm clock at all, made them feel happier that day
  • 80% say not receiving a reply to their text messages makes them feel “negative”, whatever that means
  • 41% said going by one day without getting a text message made them feel unpopular or lonely
  • Less than one in 10 people, 9% to be exact, actually laughed at a text message despite 61% of people using “LOL” in a text message
  • None of the people surveyed have ever rolled over the floor laughing, otherwise known as ROLFing, or laughed their asses off, otherwise known as LMAO or in my case LMFAO
  • 82% of people love to hear from their partners or people they deeply care about on a daily basis
  • 18% of people don’t pick up when their parents call
  • 78% of people tell someone that they love them using a mobile phone on a daily basis
  • Less than 7% of people said they could go one whole day without using their mobile phone
  • On average, people have 95 people in their address book
  • 69% of people call or text less than 8 people a week
  • 18% of people have pretended to receive a call or text messages

Now, what can we distinguish from this survey? We’re all a bunch of fucking liars and sneaks.

Palm Pre: Supplies Dwindling, Many Stores Sold Out, Twitter Starts to Panic

palm-pre-sold-out

In other words, go get one, and now, before it’s to late. If Twitter users are any kind of indication of Palm’s customer base, the Palm Pre is starting to sell out at stores nationwide. PANIC!

Because everyone knows, since the phone is selling so well, Palm will be sure to halt all production and restocking efforts so eager buyers will be disappointed and go buy the iPhone instead. Crafty Palm marketers!

MySpace Founder: Facebook Beat Us

googletrends

Say it ain’t so! Brett Brewer, the guy who formed MySpace parent company InterMix Media and later sold it to News Corp., says that Facebook will dominate the social networking war on a worldwide scale. Facebook’s traffic is already overtaking MySpace and MySpace’s appeal is dying by the week. But it’s not just Facebook that Mr. Brewer focuses on:

But Mr Brewer, who has left the company to set up an online ad network that deals with both companies, also warned that Facebook is likely to be usurped as the king of social networking sites within two years by another entrant which will most likely pop up with better user functionality for mobile phones.

Brewer sounds spot on. Mobile phones are king in 2009 and if you’re not using a top-tier cellphone (iPhone 3G, Blackberry, G1, etc.), you might as well become a recluse. I see something similar to Twitter and Facebook taking over the web and mobile phone markets by storm in 2010-2011. What do you think? Do you prefer MySpace or Facebook?

“Is That Rob Halford?”

Straight out of the cover of a Judas Priest album, this “thing” looks to be a steampunk steed from Hell. Dubbed “Lrry,” it’s a rideable motorcycle/robo-horse constructed by the Mutoid Waste Company in London. The best part about it is it’s 100% recycled. Biker gangs will be running for the hills.

The iPhone Now Walks

Listen, dude. Forget everything you heard about the iPhone. Forget the apps, forget the voice recognition calling, forget everything because all of its capabilities and features have just been outdone. A Japanese software engineer named Kazu Terasaki has given his iPhone the ability to walk.

Yes, he’s turned his iPhone into a kick ass robot that takes baby steps. Because Kazu is such a nice guy, you too can turn your gadgets into a mobile robot with Kazu’s dev kit. All you need to know is the Japanese language and some assembly.

Human-Powered Mobile Treadmill Keeps Up With A 350Z

This is just hilarious. Even more so than the World Of Warcraft treadmill race across Azeroth. It’s a human-powered mobile treadmill by Alex Astilean. Technically the equivalent of a large hamster wheel for humans, this mobile treadmill will have everyone in the park giving you funny looks. Just be careful not to hit anyone. With the momentum this thing could potentially build up, who knows what kind of damage it could do?

A Mobile Bench That Borrows From A Wheelbarrow

You’d think this mobile park bench was made by IKEA with its simple design and detailed instruction set for how to build it. Ironically, the creator is artist Rogier Martens, who happens to be Dutch. Did you know the parent company of IKEA is a Dutch-registered foundation known as INGKA Holding? Coincidence? I think not.

This is the ideal park bench for when certain areas of the park become too crowded or noisy. You go to the park to relax in a peaceful atmosphere. If you can’t find peace in one area, try another.

Use Your Phone To Control Your Door Locks

If you’ve ever lost your keys while out on the town, you know there’s no way in hell you’re getting them back. Luckily, we tend to clutch our cellphones dear to our heart, never letting them out of our site. If you have a Schlage LiNK system, you need not worry about having keys anymore.

Essentially, the LiNK system uses the ‘net to give you full control over your door locks. Install the locks and you can use a laptop or Blackberry/iPhone/cellphone to control your locks from anywhere. Wife needs to be let in and you’re at the bar? No problem. A touch of the screen and the door is unlocked. The system shows the status of each lock, so you’ll know if someone is snooping around in your home. The lock will even text message you if there’s an issue. Sounds like a very cool idea, but also expensive. I suppose it depends on how much you value convenience and security.
