Samsung P3 Sneak Peek!

Samsung is updating its portable media player with the successor to the Samsung YP-P2, the Samsung P3. The device will be formerly announced in January, joining the media player race alongside the iPod, Toshiba U103 and the non-existant MySpace PMP.

Subtle changes include its rectangular aluminum body and three inch 480 x 272 touchscreen. You can expect it to have Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, FM and many of the other typical photo, audio and video capabilities found in portable media players. Storage capacity will range from 4GB to 32GB with varying prices which will be announced at a later date. Expect this to hit store shelves in early 2009.

Nintendo Strikes Back

Sorry to burst your bubble, pirates, but it seems that Nintendo’s next handheld unit will block flash carts used for pirating games. It took Nintendo a long enough time to take legal action against the creators of such flash carts as the R4 or N5, now it’s making damn sure that no one is going to illegally emulate its games.

The following flash carts are confirmed not to work on the Nintendo DSi:

Trying Out The New Xbox 360 Experience

I hope you’ve been preparing for the new Xbox experience because it’s going to change the way you play your 360. No doubt you’ve heard that Microsoft has completely revamped the dashboard, bringing with it a new design and avatars that give core players the casual feel of the Wii. Is this a good thing? It sure is according to Engadget.

Joshua Topolsky of Engadget wrote up a positive preview of the new Xbox experience which will soon be your new dashboard. In the preview, he comments on the likeness between the Xbox 360’s marketplace and iTunes. Additionally, he mentions the Netflix feature which allows you to shuffle through movies in your queue. I’m thrilled about the new Xbox experience, I just hope my 360 doesn’t turn into a Wii. Look for the update to hit your system come November 19th.

Guts Of The Latest Macbook Pro

The new Macbooks are all the rave on the Internet. Even Vince and I can’t shut up about them. If you’re just as enthralled by all of this Mac-goodness as we are, then you’ll find the dismantling of the new Macbook Pro’s unibody by the crew of Ifixit.com to be very interesting.

They go through the process of taking apart the Macbook Pro while offering some insight on the new design and noting the differences when paired against the old design. It’s a great read and if you’re considering purchasing a new laptop, don’t overlook this analysis of one of the better options out there for your next notebook: the Macbook Pro.

The New Arduino

The Duemilanove (meaning “2009″ in Italian) is the latest addition to the Arduino line of microcontrollers. It looks like it’s predecessor, the Diecimila, and also shares similar specs with one main subtle difference: the Diecimila has a jumper which is used to select a power source (USB or external power) while the Duemilanove automatically selects the appropriate power supply , eliminating the need for the power selection jumper.

Other than that, you’re still getting all the luxuries you would from a Diecimila out of the Dueomilanove. Now, thanks to the removal of the power selection jumper, you’ll no longer have to worry about blocking the jumper after installing an Xport shield.

Jar of Fireflies Isn’t An Alice In Chains Album

Using an ATtiny13 microcontroller and some matrixed LEDs, hacker Randomskk designed a jar full of electronic fireflies. A bulb is picked at random and flashed on one to three times. 255 different patterns are available and the entire thing is powered by a watch battery. Seems like it’d be pretty easy to make your own. What do you think? Weekend project or five minutes of fury?

Macbooks On The Cheap

You’ve already heard all the news that’s sprouted from the latest Apple event. Vince briefly mentioned the new price for the old Macbooks - $999, making it Apple’s first notebook under $1,000. However, is this price cheap enough to pull consumers in?

Many Windows notebooks are priced between $500 and $1,000 dollars, which leaves room for any upgrade deals you want to make. On the other hand, the old Macbooks price dropping to $999 will leave little to be desired considering the new Macbooks are only $300 more. With that, there isn’t much reason to not fork over an extra $300 for the better rig, unless of course you’re really on a budget.

Black and Decker Auto Wrench

Sometimes, when I’m hanging out with Mel Gibson, we like to play Niptwist. What’s Niptwist, you ask? It’s a game when I take an adjustable wrench and then clamp down on Mel’s nipples. He screams in delight and then begs for more. After about 45 minutes of this, Gibson passes out and mumbles some anti-semetic rant.

Little does Mel know that tomorrow I’m going to have an advantage in our game of Niptwist. I plunked down $27 for the Black and Decker Auto Wrench. What does $27 get you? Try an automatic adjustable wrench with 220 ft-pounds of torque. That’s enough to turn William Wallace’s balls/nips/dick more purple than Barney. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, bitches.

Let’s Tap: The Next Brilliant Idea From Nintendo

Everyone has been holding their breath for the next eye-popping accessory to hit the Nintendo Wii. I just can’t get enough of great products like the Wii MotionPlus and Wii Sqweeze. Those are two accessories you simply can’t miss out on.

If you’re a Nintendo fanboy, then you’ll be excited to hear the news of Nintendo’s latest brilliant idea. It’s called “Let’s Tap,” and it adds a whole new element of gameplay to the Wii that you never thought imaginable: tapping. That’s right, tapping. An activity once used for passing time when you’re waiting around for the bus has now been given new life, thanks to the Nintendo Wii. Just set your Wiimote on top of its flat surface and begin tapping away. That’s all we know for now, but boy are we excited!
