Because Star Power Is A Pain In The Ass

rockpedal.jpg

Whenever I play Guitar Hero and it’s time to use my stored Star Power, I literally have to do a cartwheel to get the guitar to sense the thrusting motion that lets the console know it’s time to kick some ass. No more of this crap.

This new Guitar Hero pedal from React makes sure you can use your Star Power when you want to, on your terms. React also went ahead and added a handy whammy bar pedal in as well. And let’s face it, the guitar experience isn’t complete without some foot action (and perhaps a few custom added songs). — Andrew Dobrow

Activision has announced three new standalone wireless guitars for Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock. The controllers will be available for every console that the game will be on, and will include a sexy new all-black Gibson Les Paul model.

These controllers might look sexy, but don’t think you’ll be able to pick one up and be the next Clapton of GH. Remember: it’s not the gear, it’s the man. But of course, you will look much cooler using one of these. — Andrew Dobrow

Guitar Hero Arcade Cabinet

The second coolest thing than being an awesome guitarist, is being an awesome Guitar Hero player. This Guitar Hero Cabinet resembles a real guitar rig set-up, though with a added in display for the play of the popular video game. Only a matter of time before Guitar Hero 3 is being played on the Arcade Cab.

Is the track list on the new Guitar Hero going to keep the rocking trend strong? Even with the upcoming release, the cab fits well. Marshall gear is pretty immortal. Oh, also don’t miss the cool Zakk Wylde and Eddie Van Halen replica controllers leaning on the wall. — Andrew Dobrow

Guitar Hero 80’s Edition cover art revealed

GH80s.jpg

I must admit, I am not a fan of hair metal in the least, which is why this game doesn’t seem to be doing much for me. For those of you tossing and turning over the upcoming Guitar Hero: Rocks The 80’s, the recently released cover art might stir up some more excitement.

Revealed with the cover art are two possible new characters to choose during game play. And, yeah, they are indeed very 80’s. Big blonde hair, headbands, and all. But don’t let the pastels fool you, 80’s will make a punch with some of the best of 80’s rock and metal. — Andrew Dobrow

Guitar Hero controller will work with Rock Band

Jack_Black_School_of_Rock.jpg

Being the renaissance men that we are, we hardly need to play a guitar-based game, seeing as we can play real classical guitar, while pleasing three women at the same time. For those who aren’t as multi-talented, Harmonix and EA announced in a conference call that the guitar controller for Xbox 360 from Guitar Hero will also work with the recently announced Rock Band game.

Gamers using a PS3 will have to buy a new controller unless an adapter is released. But come on, there’s adapters for everything these days. — Andrew Dobrow

Guitar Hero goes mobile

guitarheromobile.jpg

Good news, fellow guitar shredders. Hands-On Mobile announced today that they have made an agreement with Activision to bring Guitar Hero to your mobile devices, which really, really rocks. OK, the thought of Guitar Hero wherever we go sounds awesome, but how does Activision/Red Octane plan on producing a mobile version of a game which relies on its awesome peripheral?

Surely, Red Octane gave some information in their press release about the controls, right? Wrong. The press release is very scant for details, with only the usual corporate hoopla and hype. If Activision handles the mobile version right it could work. Maybe. — Andrew Dobrow
