Harman Kardon jumps on navigation bandwagon
Harman Kardon is known for its excellent audio equipment, so when they came out with the Guide + Play GPS-500 navigation system, some people were surprised. They were not trying to go all out with this player; it’s about equal with many other GPS systems out on the market. It can play audio and video, has a 4GB SD card, and uses a 4 touch-screen monitor. Navigation features are also pretty similar, with a route simulator and multiple views (think... Continue reading
Anshin-Navi GPS phones for the kiddies
Japan’s second largest mobile operator AU KDDI announced 3 new phones this morning, but we are more interested in their upgraded service “Anshin-Navi”. The Sanyo A5525SA and Sweets Cute phones are targeted to young kids. Their parents can subscribe to the Anshin-Navi service which automatically detects the phone’s location by GPS, and check it on their phones or PCs. Samsung’s new GPS Navigator, the STT-D370, connects to phone via Bluetooth
Samsung just released the STT-D370, a new GPS navigator in Korea that is the first of its kind; it connects to cellphones via Bluetooth. Oh, and it has Transport Protocol Experts Group (TPEG) and terrestrial DMB, but those aren’t as important as hooking up with your cellphone, obviously. This is supposed to be great because it allows someone to make calls, receive calls, or send TXT messages without having to lay a hand on a cell phone. This is great... Continue reading

It’s capable of playing videos (WMV, ASF, and AVI), music, (WMA9, MP3, and WAV), and pictures (JPG, GIF, BMP and PNG). A very cool feature of the GPS3000 is that you can either hook it up to an onboard chip or independently with... Continue reading
Hand-held Guide Dog Gets You Where You’re Going
No, it’s not a Chihuahua. This Guide Dog is actually a hand-held GPS navigation system. It has a super bright 4″ TFT LCD touchscreen display, built-in antenna, and can even play games. More importantly, it’s extremely portable, as it’s the thinnest GPS device on the planet. It also comes with support for SD, MMC, MMCplus, and Personal Storage Disc formats (a new storage format, presumably designed by Power Digital Card, the company that developed the Guide Dog), VoIP capability, and...
